Chapter 21

He made me sit against a rock on the sand facing the beach. "I know I am selfish, but I am only exercising my selfishness when it comes to you." I was looking at him in the eyes. Blue orbs reflecting my face. "I am going to warn you though, in two years time I am going to get you in that shelter whether you like it or not."

"Fuck you." I half croaked, half whispered. He chuckled and brought his face a few more inches from mine.

"And I love you too." he sighed before crushing his cold soft lips on my dry ones, making my toes curl like a freaking teenager! He rested his forehead on mine, inhaled deeply and looked into my eyes as if kissing me had just drained his energy. "God, I wanted you so bad." grinning sexily he ruffled my hair. "Your ride would be here a bit later. I'll stay with you until then. " He was looking at the sun's direction.

He never really got bothered by it. His pale skin would just look glassy, not like in the book I've read. Bummer! I really wanted him to shine and shimmer! I'd really want to have an ex-boy friend that sparkles. Was that how you think, when you thought you'd died? Foolish though it just made me smile.

He sat with me, making me rest my head on his shoulder. I couldn't protest, I was so weak after all. He's so tall that I was about as tall as the middle of his upper arm. He held my right hand fiddling with my fingers. I felt content. I felt at peace. After two years of missing him, I realized that I wasn't alone again. He's here to stay forever, literally.

Few minutes later I heard a helicopter flying towards my direction. He whistled as he saw the speed of the incoming aircraft, "Chealsea could fly!" he said, finally standing up. "I'll get going now. See you later, love. I'll visit you in our dreams." He winked at me just like he'd always do and walked away with vampire speed.

I welcomed rest, I fell asleep. The next thing I noticed was Chealsea shouting at me whilst trying to break my arm once again.

"Hey Fran! Are you okay?!" A typical routine in a rescue. You have to shake the victim until there's a sign of life.

I opened my eyes, wincing "Ouch." I whispered with my croaking voice. "I'm still alive, you know." I grinned at her.

I could never explain the relief I saw in her face when she saw me respond. She just smiled and cried at the same time and crushed my head into a hug. I heard her sniffle a sob. "We thought we lost you." She looked at me once again, tears dripping on my face.

"Hey, I'm one tough chick to kill." I smiled at her. Though having my ex as a vampire did help. I saw Queencie running towards us. And I smiled at her. She too was in tears even before she got near me. "Hey, Queen." I greeted her. Chel and Queen are my closest. My inner circle.

"God, you look awful." She said, assessing me in her medic tone. She then pulled out a first aid kit and started pulling my broken arm into a splint. I just winced and moaned with the earth splitting pain she made me suffer. "This fracture would soon get an infection!" She said and mouthed a series of curses. She's a genius and she could curse in all the languages she knew. "Fran, I'm gonna give you your first dose of wide spec Antibiotic Okay?!" She said whilst tapping a syringe to remove excess bobble in it. "It'll sting like hell but a dose of morphine will be next so you'll be in La-la Land in a short while." I nodded in reply. I was delirious and in pain. She pulled out another syringe with what I suspect with morphine fluids inside. She jabbed my fractured arm near the shoulder with the antibacterial syringe causing me to yelp, then she poked that same arm with the morphine. Being extra that she was, she placed sublingual painkillers under my tongue as well. "We need to move her now." She barked like a boss. You wouldn't go against a midget medic if you're in your right mind.

That's when I saw Mushka and Noelle With a stretcher at hand. "Uh, guys I can still walk." I said, trying to stand up. I would never let these girls carry me like I died.

Chealsea nudge me in the head not so slightly and shouted, "After going all hero on us and exercising your rank you're going to walk?! No way!" All of us started laughing as they loaded me on the stretcher with all the straps and everything. They then marched at the Helicopter they used to track me down.

"How on earth did you find me?" I asked when we were airborne. I had a clear view of the Bulusan volcano as we headed south, towards Mindanao.

"With these." Queencie showed me trucking bullets attached to my belt. "And you rang on our communicator with an ear spitting shriek." she grinned.

"Welcome back boss." Mushka said, holding my hand. I smiled at her.

"Thanks, for coming back guys. I owe you my butt." I said, smirking.

"Not to mention your arm!" Chealsea butted in from the communication channel. And we all laughed. "Hold on ladies, we'll need to fly fast if we want to have her in the shelter within an hour." With that all of them strapped in their seats. It was the shortest not to mention the bumpiest helicopter ride I've ever been on.

Everything was settled. The kids were safe. We were starting our new lives. Although I still have my own secrets to bear. I know he'll be coming for me. Unless I kill him first.

"Hey, how did this cat come in here?" Queencie asked, taking a black cat from the helicopter's floor. while we were unloading the aircraft.

I recognized the cat as it meowed looking at me. "That's the freaking cat which broke my mom's vase." I said craning my neck at it.

"Ahw, now you have a pet, Fran." Noelle said grinning at me. I just smiled at her and rested my head back on the stretcher. "What'cha gonna name him."

"Karma." I replied. The medical team then took me from the girls into the shelter's hospital.

But before I could get too far I heard Queencie ask, "How'd you know it's a boy?"

"A lucky guess!" Noelle said in her overly cheerful voice.

I had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach, about Noelle. I needed to heal. I needed to prepare. In two years I'll have to slay the man that I love.
