At that time, Vincent only scoffed under his breath because he knew Starla only had him in her heart. The necklace adorning her neck was the proof, and it was enough to keep his pride even though he knew he could lose his head at any given time his relationship with Starla got exposed. 

"Starla, I—" Vincent tried to explain, but Starla sharply turned around and interrupted him again.

"I don't know what happened to you but I feel that you've grown distant from me ever since you came back here, Vince..." 

Tears rolled down her cheeks moments before she continued, "I thought I would finally feel at ease because we can meet more often from now on, but I don't know... I can't help but feel anxious when you left me in the dark."

Vincent said nothing and lowered his head. As if it wasn't enough that his plan was ruined, he couldn't disperse the dark clouds that hovered above them upon Starla's accusation.
