"What's wrong? What did I say?" Cyrus asked, but his questions would go unanswered as Katya walked away, leaving him totally perplexed. He considered going after her to ask what this was all about, but he didn't. He stayed to look out over the lake, for now he had something else to ponder.

Girls had always been a mystery to him. He remembered his dad telling him that men will never fully understand women. Their chips are programmed slightly differently, just like his tablet computer. It would eventually come up with the same results as another pilgrim's, but the algorithms to get there may be totally opposed. But why didn't Katya feel for him the way he felt for her? It was the first time in his life that he truly loved someone aside from his family. He noticed her acting as if she loved him as well. She had said the words and always showed outward signs of affection. So why couldn't she commit to being his girlfriend? He wondered if she was still holding out for Howie.
