For the moment sated, they lay spooned in each other's arms. A contentment filled him inside, a feeling of rightness he'd never imagined. He wished they could forget about going on and just stay entwined like this forever.

After tomorrow, or the day after, things would change. They'd either succeed in their quest or fail. Either way, their journey would end and once they no longer had the quest in common, what would happen to this fragile relationship they'd forged? He asked her again, each time they made love, to marry him, and each time she'd gently told him no. But he could see her resolve weakening. He just needed a little more time.
