Kicking off the business week the next morning she managed to avoid William and kept her next appointment with Donaldson, arriving at his office precisely at ten thirty to look over the premises at his invitation. They started with coffee in his office.

'You've been with William for, how long did you say, eighteen months?'

She nodded.

'And you've proved your worth several times over - I talked to William. I still don't agree with you that we need to step up promotion, but I took your point that you know almost nothing about us so, if you've finished your coffee, I'll take you around.'

Noel put her cup down. 'Finished and ready,' she said, standing.
