After dinner, when the evening had quieted, Martin noticed Emily slipping away from the group and into the peaceful solitude of the garden. The moonlight bathed the space in a soft glow, and he followed her, wanting to steal a moment alone with her.

She stood by the fountain, her fingers gently tracing the petals of a flower. Martin walked over, his footsteps light as he approached her.

"Hey," he said softly, his voice warm.

Emily turned, her eyes meeting his. "Hey," she whispered back, her lips curving into a soft smile. 

He reached out, slipping his hand into hers. "You okay?" he asked, pulling her gently toward him. 

She nodded, leaning her head on his chest. "I just needed a minute. It's all happening so fast."
