The king took one deep breath, then another. He wanted to calm down the sudden influx of heat inside his body but was unable to. 

In the darkness that surrounded him, Keito could only focus on the shimmering blue-green in front of him. Even that seemed to be fading faster than he could keep up. 

The phantom sensation of the bite remained though, his mouth remembering the shape and the feel of that neck. The mind howled at the incomplete sensation he felt at that moment his eyes sealed for relief.

Where was the sensation of completion he would have felt? The skin had given in under his teeth, the bond had snapped just as everything distorted. So where was the same bond right now?

The place where the connection was supposed to be echoed emptily now, its faint remains not helping the king feel better. Time seemed to have stopped in those few seconds when emotions ran rampant.
