Instead, she angrily slapped him on the shoulder, "You gave away a year's worth of my food money!"
Everyone in the room raised one eyebrow in confusion, including Mo Han.
An Luxia pouted unhappily as she turned away, moving over to her beloved brother instead, pursing her lips out pitifully, "Brother, I'm going to starve now! Donate to your poor little sister!"
An Yuchen looked over at Mo Han, who shrugged helplessly. Ah, of course he was poor in the eyes of his wife.
The tension in the room finally lessened a little after seeing that An Luxia could still joke around dramatically, as everyone was still quite scared about how An Luxia would react to what just happened.
Finally, the hearts Qi Lanyu and An Ping both had been holding up in their lungs dropped slightly as they exchanged a glance and wiped away some nonexistent sweat on their foreheads.
For the rest of the afternoon, no one talked about what had happened as they knew that it would only make the situation worse.
Before leaving, An Ping and Qi Lanyu pulled Mo Han aside while An Luxia was distracted by her brother, and they both thanked Mo Han.
Mo Han smiled and shook his head, "I am married to Xiaxia now, so we are a family too. You don't have to thank me. I'm sure both of you would have done the same for her."
An Ping smiled and nodded, placing his hand onto Mo Han's shoulder, "Still, thank you. . . It's getting late. You and Xiaxia should get going. I'm still a little afraid that she might be upset. Try talking to her tonight, okay?"
"I will, dad. Goodbye."
Mo Han and An Luxia got into their car and the An family watched as they drove away before they also returned to their house.
---
"100 thousand isn't a small amount. . . Mo Han said he owned a small business, right?" An Ping suddenly brought up as they entered their house.
An Yuchen had also left and returned to his own apartment, so only the two of them were left as they walked up the stairs to their bedroom.
Qi Lanyu nodded her head, "Yes. Ah, Xiaxia is blessed to have found a man like him. I'm sure few would be willing to give up such a large sum of money in a situation like that."
An Ping nodded his head but still thought that something felt wrong.
A small business? 100 thousand?
---
An Luxia fell asleep on the ride home as it was quite late already, and Mo Han didn't wake her up as he carried her onto the bed and carefully took her shoes off.
Just as he moved onto her clothes, her eyes immediately shot open.
"What are you doing?" She asked, blinking her eyes a few times as she looked down to see both of his hands on the bottom of her shirt.
Mo Han's eyes widened slightly as he immediately let go, "I was going to help you change into your pajamas, but. . ."
An Luxia chuckled softly as she pushed herself up from the bed and got off, walking into the restroom.
Half an hour later, both of them were laying on the bed next to each other in the darkness. From inside, they could hear the crickets chirping outside as it was late into the summer, making it hard to sleep.
"Are you asleep yet?" Mo Han asked very softly, too soft for An Luxia to hear exactly what he was saying.
"What?"
"Oh. . . I was just asking if you were asleep yet."
An Luxia turned around and faced him, crawling into his embrace and burying her head into his warm chest, "Thank you. . . for today. You didn't have -"
"We are married," Mo Han immediately interrupted, "You don't have to thank me for anything. My money is your money."
An Luxia grinned and didn't reply as the sound of the crickets returned. Then, Mo Han suddenly tilted his head down when he noticed the wet feeling near his chest area.
"You. . ." His eyes widened slightly as he realized that she was crying, and he immediately pulled her in closer to him. He had been wondering why she was so calm after what had happened.
It wasn't normal. . . Of course, she was hiding.
"It's okay. You can cry."
At once, the crying sounds filled the room as An Luxia grasped onto Mo Han's shirt tightly, letting her tears fly down her face.
"I - I don't want to cry - I. . ." An Luxia said, gasping for air as it was very hard to form a complete sentence while crying.
"I know, I know. . ." Mo Han gently ran his fingers through her hair, taking a deep breath as he felt his heart twist up in pain.
This was the second time she had cried in front of him already. . . excluding the times on the bed. The first was after knowing about his true identity, and now this. . .
"They - they only came back because of her. . . of my sister." An Luxia said softly, knowing that she shouldn't be surprised, but still sad about it. After all, she only spent 3 years with her biological parents. It was natural they didn't have much emotions and love towards her.
However, it still pained her to think about it. The only worth she had to them was her money.
"You don't need them. You have your parents, your brother, and. . . me. Don't think about them. They don't deserve it."
An Luxia nodded her head, lifting her hand up shakily to wipe her face, "Ah, why am I even crying?" She took in a deep breath and closed her eyes, shaking her head slightly.
She didn't plan on crying. Several times on the way back, she had almost wanted to cry for whatever unknown reason she didn't even know of, but she had stopped herself.
So why did she suddenly start crying?
She was able to reorganize her emotions quickly and although Mo Han urged her to cry and just let it all out, she had stopped and wasn't going to start again.
Finally, she laid down next to Mo Han again, her breathing back to normal.
"It's late. Go to sleep now," Mo Han said as he placed one hand onto An Luxia's head, "Good night."
"Good night."
