CHAPTER 45
The sensation didn’t last long. Catherine managed to stand straight with Bella’s help, but before she could thank her, she was overcome with another strange sensation.
“Your hair!” Bella shouted.
Catherine gasped at the sight of tens of thousands of wavy red strands growing down past her face. When they reached to just above her collarbone, she no longer felt the odd sensation. Catherine moved her hands along the sides of her face and felt her pulse skip a few beats when the ridges of her fingers found nothing but flawless skin. The lines were gone. She grabbed hold of her hair and reveled in the feeling of being one step closer to her old self.
Bricius scowled. “How did you know that would break my spell?”
“I know power you can never have.”
“I was wrong,” he said with a sneer. “You’re far crueler than the other one. It doesn’t matter that you won this battle, because I’ll win the war when Loïc drains the rest of your oathing stone.”
