寫檢討I was initially really excited to read about a novel focused on alchemy; few authors would have the courage to write about pill-making instead of depicting bloody action-packed battles and adventure. However, despite being quite an enjoyable novel to read, I ended up disappointed. The novel isn't 100% focused on alchemy, and the title is extremely misleading. The protagonist is definitely an alchemist, but that's not the story's main focus. After reading 400 chapters I realized... In reality, this is the kind of generic novel where the protagonist has the ability to learn anything very easily due to their high talent, so instead of solely focusing on alchemy, he waste time learning about numerous other things like formations, swords and fighting techniques. In truth, I'd say alchemy only comprises 25% of the entire novel. 50% of the time is spent in battles and learning about fighting and formations. The remaining 25% is allocated to other things like relationships and daily life. Another detail that bothers me a lot is the protagonist's irrational stupidity and naivety. Being a country bumpkin living on a farm far from the big city and having lived away from school isn't reason enough for Alex to act so childishly and naively. Only a 5-year-old child would do the things him do. But Alex are an adult in college. People without experience of social interaction don't act like him. This constantly takes me out of the story. Worse, in the first few chapters, no one tries to take advantage of the protagonist; everyone he meet is trustworthy and good, which doesn't make sense in a cultivation world. It takes almost 100 chapters or more for any consequences to occur. By then, I was so frustrated that I almost gave up on continuing to read. It's completely different from reading Cultivation Online for example, where the explanations for the protagonist's naivety and childishness makes a lot of sense. Not to mention, the author obviously drew too much inspiration from Cultivation Online. There are so many similarities that it almost becomes plagiarism, but I can assure you it's not. On the other hand, it's quite a fun novel to read—the plot about the real world, the mystery surrounding the game, what happened to humanity, and the protagonist's actions—all quite interesting things. I really like that Alex has a good heart and doesn't desire to kill or do evil things for selfish reasons. It's refreshing amidst the sea of novels where all the protagonists are cold and kill without hesitation. Ultimately, this novel would be perfect if that scene where the protagonist receives two masters had never happened. If the protagonist didn't waste time learning combat and instead focused solely on alchemy, it would be incredible. I wanted to see Alex become an alchemist step by step, rise in the sect hierarchy, become increasingly famous until he catch the attention of the sect leader. Then he could create increasingly incredible pills and travel the world using the alchemist skills to help countless people. Discovering new recipes, creating new recipes. A talented alchemist who would need unorthodox means to protect himself. Taking steps ever higher toward the peak. That would indeed be the Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy.

This is one of the best novels I have ever read. The twists and turns after chapter 450 are incredible to say the least. Believe me guys if you persist till around chapters 450-550 you will definitely find it worth it.
The author has an amazing grasp on what makes a great story with compelling characters. It does appear to start off a bit generic but the author masterfully weaves in pieces of foreshadowing that help explain and elevate his plots. Highly recommend this story for fans of stories where alchemy plays a major role throughout the series.
Honestly I'm a reader that's not overly picky. everyone is complaining about how dumb the mc is but I don't mind. In fact, I rather enjoyed this novel a lot. well enough to get me to a bit over 550 chapters. But the story decisions made at this point are very frustrating to the point that I no longer want to read it. It's not that it's bad but 550 chapters in I'm invested in the mc. the REAL mc. It's not that what you did isn't an interesting idea it's just an extreme let down because it took way too long and lets us get too attached to the real him. if you were gonna do something like that don't give us so much IRL in it. it honestly doesn't even feel like the same story.
揭示劇透After reading about 400 chapters, I can honestly say it's an okay novel. Let me explain. I'll try not to spoil. The MC is a country bumpkin who has entered college. He's probably the most innocent college kid I've ever read, and I have read quite a repertoire of books so his mental state threw me off. His true mental state feels more like a 14 year old freshman in high school. It can be at times very frustrating at how kind and giving he can be to the point of being a pushover yet at the same time admirable. The MC (Alex) is truly one of those innocent zero to hero in the making. Now I can understand this can dissuade people from continuing but if you can endure his once in awhile stupid behavior you can see his miniscule growth in character. (It's been 400 chapters and I can say he has gone from Innocent Stupid to just Less Innocent) Now do I recommend this book? I'd say it's like a more tame kid friendly version of Cultivation Online so if you liked that story you probably will like this one except with Alchemy added onto it. Would recommend it to friends who like a not OP MC with cultivation only. My True Score is a 6.8/10 Close to 6.9 but it's not nice enough.
It is a good novel, although they should add tragedy to the tags. The protagonist loves it by its author in the same way as those of Spiderman, hard love, very hard, or for the construction of character development.
@snoring panda can you help me understand what happened on chapter 554. the soul thing is confusing me a lot can you provide some clarification so to what happened. Is the Alex in the real world not Alex and somebody else. and did the real Alex transfered into the game permanently? can you please explain ?
揭示劇透I read good portion into the book by my suspension of disbelief can only carry me so far. It is fascinating how everyone in the book asks the dumbest questions for exposition. All main characters seem to be naieve and lack any sceptisim when it comes to the "game world" or how the Alex got OP abilities. Characters feel so lifeless especially Alex. I can't speak for the whole book because I had to stop reading.
this is by far the worst novel I have ever read on character development. The MC is the dumbest person ever. he never thinks before doing anything. whatever bad has happened in the story has all been his fault because he is stupid. I am currently on chapter 825 but there is no change in character development. The author please do something about it, you are clearly ruining this novel. also please be clear about his cultivation at all times.
I always thought Goku was stupid till I understood and he is just naive but this Mc I at first thought he is just Naive till I understood he is a complete Idiot
it's a mediocre read. i enjoy the route the novel was trying to go with alchemy in a game to earn money, I just really dislike naive innocent uncultured uneducated main characters. there hasn't been a single moment of him becoming more social or actually learning any more than he already has not had he really just focused on alchemy. it's mostly just oh yeah he learned this and that in an hour and can do it with his eyes closed now. not saying it's bad, just it makes it seems like just another cultivation novel. there honestly doesn't seem like there's any point in the transitions to RL as they are basically meaningless snippets.
it's so addicting. The way it subtly threw the very first plot twist blew my mind, I kid you not. I feel like this is one of the rare stories which have not disappointed me in any way, at all. loved it. highly recommend.
After reading the author's review, and then many of the reader's reviews, I started reading this with a critical and skeptical mindset. However, I'm starting to think that maybe the reviews that call the MC a terribly written character might be a bit too harsh and closed minded. I actually think the author is doing a good job of portraying a simple minded hick from the countryside being introduced to a whole new world. I would say, don't let other reviews scare you away from giving this novel an honest try. If you don't like it, then so be it. So far I only hope that the author doesn't write himself into a corner and has to come up with contrived plotlines to keep the plot going. (i.e virtually every xianxia in existence LOL).
Don't get me wrong, I like this story and I'm rooked. Currently I'm reaching the 1200s chapters. But I'm really concerned about the future of this novel. So many plots and subplots left hanging, I'm afraid Author-san will forget secondary characters and leave several stories hanging. Too many cliffhangers that weren't resolved and still Alex only continue involved himself in more and more problems. Please don't make this another Chinese auto-imploded story.
in the beginning was alot of grammar errors and mistakes but the story plot and development is very good. I wish the chapters would come quicker and I would like more chapters . I know the author is loading other booksþ at this time, but I think he should Finish one book before doing another.
I enjoyed the start and first few hundred chapters of this story. But now I am very quickly getting bored by everything that is happening. Say what you will about the usual style of Chinese novels, even the poorly paced ones place more importance on the MC, and done have large filler events so early and often in the story. Will try and continue to read but I am already sick of the story since the MC is doing nothing. And the usual trend you find in story’s written by westerners is starting to pop up, though it is nice that there isn’t angst all over the place, and the character so far isn’t a simp. And thank god it is NOT a harem story, that kind of trash can F right off.
It has been a long while since I read a book so addictive. The author has made a great background scenario to the story which most books lack. The story is a bit confusing in the first volume but everything falls together by 1100 chapters. I thank you snoring panda for creating this book and hope that you will enjoy writing it as much as I have read it. Left at 1200
I expect this novel to be another one of those cultivation video game virtual reality novel. It looked like that at the start but when I started reading more I was pleasantly surprised. There are numerous plot twists where I found myself in shock, and even though many of the things may not make sense at the start, phone calls into place once you start reading. It really seems like the author planned a lot for this book in advance, which I commend. Overall, a really solid novel.
This mc is a moron. That's all I can say so far. He's so ignorant and the author doesn't even try to make him improve, he just gives him more things to be ignorant about. And what's with him being so obsessed with being secretive? Shouldn't be be trying to become a core disciple since he wants more freedom? He had the job cut short for him and yet he still refuses to do it, he's selling the pills instead of submitting a small amount of them to finish the test. I'm 100% sure the author left it like that so the mc can do some face slapping. It was even more obvious when he didn't start wearing new robes when he become the sect leaders disciple. Even more reinforced when he helped the Kong guy when his cauldron was about to explode and the other guy wanted to attack him. Mc held him up with his qi manipulation (something that's rare) and yet everyone just brushed if off like it's something normal.
A good story that is ultimately weighed down by two big issues. Firstly, there is such a thing as too much detail. There were many times in the story I was reading when too many small things were talked about. Like going to one place only to be turned away because he needs *blank*. So he goes to get *blank* only for it to be a long drawn-out process. This happens a lot, and I keep asking myself: "Did you really need to take time to include all these useless things?" It really feels like the word count is unnecessarily padded. The other issue is the MC knows LITERALLY nothing. Imagine a little kid following you around asking the most obvious questions for several hours. And no matter how much they learn, even the slightest hint of anything new leads to a barrage of new questions. I'm surprised the MC knows how to BREATHE without being told how to do it.
I have nothing to say about the novel aside from being full of plot twists, it has great character development and world building. Now, to the spoiler part, I have reached the point where Mc was kidnapped by Xue Kuangran to heal him, seeing that one prophecy has been achieved, I wonder if the other one with the three girls, the circle that shocks and the power that he loses that another gains is going to happen? And how? I don't mind being spoiled a tiny bit.
