He shared George's irritation since Lucian's statements had partially insulted him, and the bold challenge made him let out a short laugh. His reaction didn't hint at anything specific, but he hid it anyway by bringing his drink to his mouth.

Of course, the audience saw Khan's laugh differently. He was George's friend, so his gesture seemed to disregard Lucian's point.
