Clarissa sounded so convincing. 

Darcy was still hesitant. 

Clarissa continued, hoping this would actually work. "Look here, I would have asked your father to assist me but he's a man and it won't be right if he sees me in my underwear. The king would have his head."

Darcy thought about it and it really did look like the king adored the princess. The last thing she needed was for her father to be killed for something as simple as this.
