The glass crashed against the wall.

Everyone watched in tense silence as the failed attempt at a cure lay amidst the broken glass. 

Kieran was tired of this. Each and every batch of the new cures had failed testing. It was like fate was mocking him. For centuries he had tried and finally he gave in to the advice he was given to find the moon kissed witch. 

Even that had taken time. So much time that the prophecy about the moon kissed witch had become ingrained in his memory. He could have probably recited it in his damn sleep. 

'The moon kissed witch shall be born on the day of the golden moon. To rule the day or to rule the night, a choice which lies in her heart.'

The golden moon only appears once in a century. To wait a hundred years only to be disappointed repeatedly. This curse was all he'd known all of his life.
