章節 30: Burger=Human
"Are you sure?" Without waiting for her reply, Genny tried to explain her point. "I am not doubting your skills or professionalism, okay? I just thought maybe you could help him faster if I told you a few things."
"I know you are trying to help but trust me, we will be completely fine." Amber didn't understand if she was assuring Genny or herself. Something about Ivan made her feel weird but in a good way.
From the first brief session, she could make out that his thoughts were deep, deeper than she had expected. The pain and uneasiness in his eyes were quite evident, this is why she ended the session early. She didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable and decided to wait for him to open up just like her other patients.
"Okay but as his assistant, I should tell you this. He is a really nice guy though he tries to act like he doesn't care, it's nothing like that. He is a very observant, like really very—"
Cutting her off, Amber remarked, "Yeah I think that is enough."
"But—"
"Thank you so much for the useful information Gen, I will talk to you later." Without waiting for her reply, she hung up the call.
Tossing the phone aside, she resumed cooking her dinner.

Ivan's place.
After Rachael left, Jason started questioning Ivan excitedly. "So how was it? Was she pretty? Was she old?"
"As if I need to tell you anything, find out on your own," he remarked.
"Oh come on, there is no fun in that. I mean yes it is but not this time. I want to hear it from you."
Thinking for a while, Ivan shrugged his shoulders. "It was nice, nothing much."
"And—?" When he did not say anything, Jason sighed, "Don't force me to invade your privacy."
Scratching his forehead, Ivan helplessly shook his head. "You won't understand even if I tell you."
"Try it, tell me," he tried to convince him.
"Well—" Keeping quiet for quite some time, he tried to explain his feeling. "Have you ever met a person for the first time but felt like you have met her before. I mean, did you ever get a familiar feeling from a stranger?"
Giving him an almost blank look, Jason shook his head. "Not really, but I did get a nostalgic feeling when I ate a burger the other day if that's what you are talking about."
"Okay, had you eaten that burger in the past?"
"Not really, I don't think so."
"Well then it's the same feeling, just replace the burger with a human," Ivan explained in the simplest way he could.
Raising his brows, Jason asked, "Is that human the therapist?"
Looking at the ceiling, he sighed and nodded his head. "Yeah, it's just—I don't know how to express it." Ivan was still contemplating whether he should just shrug off the weird familiarness he felt with Amber or he should try to find out why he had felt that way.
"They taught us this in preach school which was—I don't remember how many years ago but I do remember a few things that were highlighted."
When Ivan looked at him with curiosity plastered all over his face, Jason started explaining. "I don't know about the human world but in our world, this feeling is called 'The after-life effect'."
