As the first scream erupted, Mattheus looked at the student. The only reason the twenty-year-old did not take a step back was from noticing how calm his valet appeared. 

Instead, he noted the man's identity—the engineer that was part of the band of merry cultists that Verne was a part of. One that was part of the group involved with preparing the summoning ritual. 

"Mister Vincent," the student greeted.

"Ah." Vincent suddenly straightened. "Miss Brue had just informed me to pass on a message that Dame Avis took too long to the point the target nearly reached Lord Crown."

The redhead scowled, such an expression giving away to Mattheus that she probably was a teenager despite the lack of excess baby fat that was immediately obvious.

"I was running around all over the city dealing with the problem all day! And then she pulled me into that blind search around Graham and Holdings Avenue a few hours ago," the military academy student complained.
