'The bed was too high.' she realized only now. Even if she tries to jump down it won't look lady-like at all and moreover, she might end up hurting her ankles. 

"I carried you inside." He almost whispered in her ears. 

Xixi could feel his scorching breathe against her ears. An air of ambiguity filled between them. 

"Ahem, ahem." a cough interrupted Ziran from teasing the flustered lady even more.

Ziran glared at the poor attendant who was merely following his orders. 

"Sir, as per your order I brought the porridge for madam." He explained not daring to step inside without the lord's permission. 

Xixi let out a sigh of relief. She inched away from him running her fingers through her locks to pin them up. 

"Leave it on the desk." Xixi heard the voice by her speaking up.

The attendant left hurriedly after placing the bowl of porridge on the bedside ivory table.
