Zagan was caught off guard by what Gandalf said. He wasn't sure he heard the name properly. Erebus?

For all I know, Erebus was defeated a long time ago and the possibility of him resurfacing to the Earth is almost impossible." this was a piece of big news and if truly this was the same Erebus the ones long before him battled, it means that he wasn't going to be an easy match.
