"This tunnel is so long! Why would you ever create something this inconvenient?" I complained to no one. Well technically Genos, but he has been ignoring me since we entered.
Genos suddenly stopped walking. Since he usually plays the dramatic, I could tell he sensed something.
"There are many living beings further in. Two are headed our way right now." Genos reported to me.
I had been hearing breaking and crashing sounds for a little bit, so I could tell that on my own honestly. It echoes a lot here.
In no time, I saw a large fist swing toward me, and I did my best to deflect it, but I ended up deflecting it toward Genos.
Genos already had an attack of his own heading toward him so he had been bashed twice.
"Ooh, sorry about that." I apologized after I saw his head through a small crater in the concrete wall.
"Oh? You dodged?" I turned to see a rather large looking beetle creature.
"You seem at least a little fun, unlike the art installment I put there." The beetle monster pointed at an unmoving Genos.
"Ya, I kind of thought he would react on time." I scratched my head.
"My name is Carnage Kabuto. We got a combat experimentation room, you seem like fun, so let's have a proper fight, eh?"
"Alright sure." I followed Kabuto. I didn't want to leave Genos there, but that other guy was bleeding out, so he probably couldn't do anything to Genos.
Best case scenario, we leave Genos alone and he recovers in time to help me. Kabuto's punch hurt my arms a little, but I also wasn't fully prepared to deflect, so maybe I am fine?
Kabuto gave me a cocky grin as he lumbered off back where he came from.
-----------------------------
The room was massive, and encompassed all in white, with grey lines going across it in a grid pattern.
"Pretty big, isn't it!?" Kabuto yelled.
We had both taken positions pretty far from each other like he wanted to use the whole room.
"It's the biggest room in the facility. This is where they make us fight to test our combat abilities. Well then, it's time to die!"
As he said that he jumped at me at a speed much faster than before. Thankfully due to the distance he decided to start from I was able to react in time.
I dodged to the side and moved his fist toward the ground faster by pulling it, causing him to lumber forward. Following that I sent a quick flurry of blows to his arm, trying to figure out if this guy had any weaknesses.
From basic observation, his whole body was armour, but there would always be weaker points to take advantage of. I quickly learned that none of those were in the arm. It didn't even hinder him.
He swatted me to the side with the same arm, but I rode the momentum and jumped off, gaining distance for myself.
When I landed, I immediately got into the starting position for the water stream rock smashing fist. I lowered my body with my arms mimicking that of a mantis.
I took a deep breath and the air around seemed to be sucked in like it was filling a vacuum.
My eyes sharpened into cyan then immediately into blue. I could track every muscle movement that Kabuto was making, waiting for him to make a move.
I noticed he was about to jump, but a sudden burst of flame came from the entrance, singeing the ground that it passed by. Though, when it hit Kabuto, the flames did nothing to him.
"Ho? You're still alive?" I turned my attention to Genos, my eye colour changed back as I wasn't fully focused on Kabuto now.
Genos's face was largely cracked, and even a bit of his "skin" fell off. Creepiest thing I have ever seen. I am not entirely sure how he isn't just a robot if he's alive after that.
"Genos, a bit of your robot is showing." I tried to make light of it to get my mind off of it.
He ignored me again, as he usually does, and charged at Kabuto. He seemed a little insulted that I was fine but he was not.
In a second, he had passed Kabuto, kicking his shoulder on the way by, which made a clanging sound, much like metal hitting metal.
Following that was Genos shooting flames at Kabuto from every angle he could, to no effect. I had to dodge some of the flames as well, because, as mentioned, he is ignoring me.
'Am I even here? Do I exist?' I stared blankly as I had to dodge another pillar of misfire headed toward me.
This room was so big that he had to be aiming at me on purpose, right? Why? What did I do?
Genos approached Kabuto in a burst of bright flames and hit him with as many punches as he could.
"Machine-gun blow!" As he called it.
He was easily smacked out of, as it seems he didn't realize how much weaker he was compared to it.
He tumbled across the floor, somehow slightly adjusting along the ground to head toward me. I couldn't dodge him coming toward me since he was too close when I realized that he was suddenly headed toward me.
I caught him, sliding back from the residual force of the punch.
'Wow how strong am I to have deflected a punch like that and only have my arms hurt.' I came to realize how broken my dream powers are.
"He got me..." I heard Genos lament.
"Let me take him..." He asked me.
"Look, I know you have your pride or whatever, but half your face is gone, and now you've lost an eye. I don't think you're exactly in any condition to "take him."" I angrily pointed out to the dumb teenager.
19 is a teen, right?
He didn't listen to me like usual though, and let out a whole bunch of flames with his arm, causing his whole body to light up and even burned me a little.
Kabuto, however, stopped his flames with a gust of air, and quite literally blew it away.
'Wait that's not away. That's at us!'
I braced for impact, but the flames didn't really do all that much. Any force it had must have been largely taken away by the reflection and any heat was more like a hot wind, like walking past an open oven.
Genos somehow managed to leave his hair a smoking mess from that however, which got me worried about my own.
Thankfully it was fine, and I didn't get an afro like he did.
"Alright, let's do this properly this time!" I took off the jacket that I had on.
I honestly didn't realize I still had it, but it was a little restricting.
Also it would look cooler if I took something off, so it was either that or my shirt, leaving me in a sports bra.
I settled into my earlier position as I refocused. My mind wasn't in the right tone yet, so my eyes stayed green, slightly shifting toward a seafoam green.
Kabuto taunted me as we stood off against each other.
'I hope he doesn't outright kill me in one blow.'
