章節 27: No Right

Seeing Aisling's confused and questioning eyes, Lussa became angrier. The silver eyes had a genuine ignorance concerning her anger and frustration.

She decided that it was useless to punish this woman for now.

She first needed Aisling to understand that she was just a small witch from the secular world.

She would never be good enough for the King.

When Lussa had been told by Ammon, the leader of the Cadre, to guide Aisling and provide her with information personally, she had thought that Rex was finally taking notice of her. After all, his Cadre did not put anyone in their eyes, not even the Ruler.

She had also put a lot of effort into improving herself in an all-rounded way so that she could be the best match for him.

However, as soon as she had come close to Aisling's new house, she had felt a demi-angelic aura on the premises. That aura had the hardness of obsidian, the scent of lava and oppression that spoke of power.

As soon as Aisling had opened the door, she had realised that the aura was a residue on the woman's body.

On the surface, Aisling had the light smell of herbs and paint. But beneath the obvious, Lussa, who had heightened senses due to her bloodline, could sense the demi-angelic scent that people revered and feared.

Moreover, she knew the fact that the scent lingered until morning meant that they had to have been pretty intimate.

Once again, Lussa felt anger rise within her.

What right did a weak woman from the useless mainland have to even speak with the king? She did not have any right!

"Ms Drakon, if there is nothing else, I would like to go back to my own business." Aisling decided not to entertain the malicious woman any longer.

She could feel the anger in Lussa, so it was not in her best interest to keep standing in the eye of the storm. She was not a glutton for punishment.

"Ms Flynn, please remember that you are here to provide assistance and not on a vacation. If you are not going to help us catch the murderer, you can return to your home." Lussa said with a hard voice.

Aisling frowned, and her eyes became sharp silver shards.

"I might be here to consult on the case, but you still have no power over me. As far as I know, you should only be here to drop off the relevant files to the case. If you do not have them, scram." She did not give Lussa face.

Lussa eyes darkened, but she did not have a way to vent her anger without harming Aisling. And she did not dare to hurt her because she knew that the King might hear about it.

With a wave of the hand, a black tablet materialised in her hand, and she proffered it to Aisling.

"This is an Order-issue tablet with all the information on the murder cases as well as limited access to the Panthalassa databases. You can use it freely, but the information there is confidential. Any leakage will be met with swift punishment."

Aisling took the tablet with a smile.

"This could have been our entire interaction this morning, Ms Drakon. I hope we can have a civil arrangement during my stay in Panthalassa. If you cannot work with me, please assign another liaison." She said before stepping back into the house and closing the door.

Lussa felt angered again, but she could do nothing.

With her high position, anything she did would be considered an abuse of power. Moreover, she would be punishing a weak person from the mainland. It would attract contempt from others.

However, it did not mean that she was completely helpless.

As Aisling had said, if she could not work with her, she could assign someone else to handle things on her behalf.

She was a busy Premier, after all.

Her draconic eyes shone with a strange light.

Phoenix City.

Abaddon stood up and tried to clear his head. Samiel and Govad looked at him with squinting eyes that spoke of a hangover.

Demi-angels had a powerful constitution that could withstand regular alcohol without even slight light-headedness. However, Govad's wine was a special brew with ambrosia, and the concoction could bring down even a pureblood monster.

"Where are you going? The party has just started." Govad said with a hoarse voice but bright eyes.

Abaddon felt amused by the statement.

"I have something to do," Abaddon responded casually. "And you are about to have another visitor."

With those words, he disappeared from the room like a phantom. It was almost as if he was never there.

Govad looked at the spot which he had left with dissatisfied eyes. It was against house rules. Samiel noticed the annoyance.

"Can you beat him?" He asked with a laugh.

Govad shook his head.

"Then, he can do what he wants."

Before Govad could speak, they heard a light knock on the door.
