章節 23: New Home

The ghost left quickly seemingly worried. He'll soon figure out that nothing special happened but her training too much. He'll probably come back soon.

"Teacher let's go to safety in case…"

[Naw, everything should be fine don't worry.]

"Oh, ok. This bear understands!"

That was enough to convince him? How much trust does he hold in me? This definitely seems unwarranted.

I should probably teach him to be wary of strangers at some point. That is usually what you teach young kids. If a weird man wants to give you a lollipop in his white van don't follow him.

That's what people used to tell me. What about if it's a strange sister? Am I supposed to go with her?

Now I need to say something similar to this beast. If a strange hunter approaches you with honey don't follow him or something of the likes. Actually, I feel like he would probably resist gluttony.

I know what he couldn't resist, however. If some random guy called himself a hidden expert and sold fake secret technique scrolls, he would totally get scammed!

I remember these guys I knew that used to sell that to kids in their neighborhood. Surprisingly they were making a pretty penny and it was always fun to see people think of them as drug dealers.

One time some gang even went to knock at their door to talk about territory delimitations. I was expecting my friends to get bashed up really good but instead, the gangsters just left after buying some scrolls.

[Bear, tell me. What should you do if someone randomly asks you to follow him or do as he says?]

"I turn him down obviously I have my pride!"

"What if he wants to show you new hiding techniques?"

"What?! Then obviously I follow him and …"

[Yeah, please refrain if that happens in the future. Actually, before you do something crazy tell me about it please.]

"Is teacher worried about me? Don't worry this bear is strong!"

It is not his strength I am worried about.

As we are casually chatting, the ghost comes back. There is no trace of the spider. I guess she is sleeping.

"It seems everything is in order. New friend, I have a suggestion. How about I bring you to a place you could settle and live?"

Oh? I like that idea.

[Show the way! Please.]

And thus, he brings me to an area nearby Yggdrasil.

"Alright, you can settle here! If you need anything special do call for me!"

On that note, he leaves. Okay, so this plot of land is quite…. empty. There is nothing noteworthy here besides trees. How the hell am I supposed to live here?!

Wait…is the elf expecting me to build a house by myself? I come from a modern world, a modern world! Ironically this means that there aren't that many things I know how to do.

Need a house? You can pay an architect to design one and construction workers to build it.

Need food? You can call any delivery service in the neighborhood.

Need supplies? There is a delivery for that too!

Need a girlfriend? Also a number you can call to …. Never mind the last one.

As long as you have money, you can live in such a world. It doesn't matter if you are utterly useless as long as you got cash everything is fine. You could be the most clueless useless individual in everything except one profession that you do for a living and you'd be fine.

The people of old used to do it all themselves, and some still do. The issue is that I do belong to the useless category. Useless in everything besides growing plants. So how the hell am I supposed to grow a house eh?!

*Sigh* This is really bad.

Meanwhile, the bear and the tiger are just watching me. I can hear them whispering. One asking why I'm staring absent-mindedly standing there and the other answering about all the awesome things I'm actually planning at the moment.

I am not! I really am staring at the air discouraged and sad! This is the worst. I close my eyes and contemplate life.

Should I just dig a hole somewhere and bury myself in it? The bear could help for sure.

I really wish I could simply grow myself some sort of shelter. Yep, really wish I could just grow some plants that would protect me from the wind and the rain.

*WOOM*

What is that? Oh no! I screwed up again! The same as before! Stop, stop!

I can feel all my energy getting drained out of me. It somehow seems to be going into the medallion Yggdrasil gave me. Then I see it start to blossom and vines growing out of it.

What is happening?! Before my very eyes, many vines appear and crawl in front of me. As if guided by some divine hand, all of these start assembling themselves into something. It doesn't take long for a small house made of greenery to appear.

This is both extremely weird and extremely impressive. This is pretty much the upgrade version of that one Swedish store that sells everything in pieces. Except for the fact that this one also does all the assembly work by itself.

How amazing is that?! Very! This is surprising.

Meanwhile, the bear and tigers are acting both impressed and excited. Somehow it feels like they expected such a result from the start. I'll really need to teach them both.

I'm glad the mana drain is over and I am still standing. I wonder what …. I see the original medallion turn into small glowing particles before it dives straight into the middle of my chest.

For some reason, it doesn't hurt at all. I can also feel something new. This is a new experience for me. It takes me a short while before I finally figure out what is happening. This thing seems to have merged with my soul.

I can feel the house's existence as if a part of me. I can figure also out its status just by thinking about it. How magical!

I definitely need to get to the bottom of this!!!
