章節 12: Name Your Price

A picture of a dreamcatcher flashed across Crescent eyes and to make all those more surprising, all such dreamcatchers came pretty familiar to her. This was because Juan Long was right, all of it was made by Crescent.

"You got these from my website right?" Crescent asked although she knew the answer to her question was positive. There's no way that anyone could take a copy of her works aside from downloading it from her anonymous site. She wanted to ask then how they knew it was her behind that site but since they were employees of Montarini corporate, it would be foolish to ask anymore. Of course those people were very capable of tracking down a normal site no matter how anonymous it was.

"Forgive us for the intrusion," Juan Long felt the need to apologize. "But these works caught the attention of the prince and so we wanted to know where you get the inspiration from these,"

"The prince? You mean Huzey Montarini?" She asked to confirm whether she did hear right. Did Juan Long just say Huzey Montarini took interest in her works? What the heck?

"Yes," Juan Long simply confirmed as if the matter was of no importance where in fact for Crescent it was huge! Imagine the national artist taking time to notice your work? How lucky could one get at that? Shit! Did she just hit the jackpot?

"He liked my work?" She asked again, her face full of distrust and incredulity. God, this all was too good to be true but she was hoping for the best. Perhaps this fact right here could seriously give her a huge advantage.

"He was curious where you get the inspiration for it," The prince's subordinate repeated his previous question. The prince called him a few days ago about the site where a certain dream catcher caught his interest and he wanted Juan Long to dig deep on it. He really didn't know what all this was for but he simply could not question his prince's orders.

"It's complicated," Crescent answered. Truth was, what Juan Long was asking was a very private question to her as the dreamcatchers she all made was something she did not do because of leisure or recreation. It was her therapy and every time she made one, she only thread something that first came into her mind—some imagery that she herself wasn't sure of. Sometimes, these imagery came from her dreams and to tell such a fact to Juan Long, she didn't think he would believe it. "I just love to thread some sort of thing, I don't really have an inspiration for it. Besides, I have made so many dreamcatchers already it's hard to generalize an inspiration from the bulk of it as every piece had a story of its own. If you know what I mean,"

"I understand," Juan Long responded with words that Crescent did not expect. She did think he would force her to reveal each of the inspirations of the piece he showed her but turns out it was just her assumption. Perhaps she had judged Juan Long too much and thought he wouldn't give her a break and would do anything, illegal or legal to make her tell. However, he didn't and Crescent felt like he was being easy on her.

"How about this one, would you be kind enough to tell me how you came up with this design?" Juan Long showed Crescent another dreamcatcher this time and this made her heart stop.

The one that Juan Long showed her wasn't an ordinary dream catcher. It was something she had when she woke up from her coma but didn't remember making it. It was a small dreamcatcher, the size of which can be compared to the bottom of a small glass. It was handed to her by the hospital where she was admitted when she was in coma, saying it was part of the things she owned when she was brought to the hospital. Thinking that it was hers, she tried making a dreamcatcher and realized that although she doesn't have a memory of making one, her hands seemed to be skilled in making it that in a span of minutes, she was able to make a dreamcatcher despite how complicated the art was. This came as a surprise because when she asked her mother and her relatives about it, they said that she never knew the art of making a dreamcatcher and so they thought it must be a skill she picked while she was travelling or when she went for an immersion.

"This one...I made this a long time ago I don't anymore remember the inspiration of it," She lied. She knew she was the one who made such a dreamcatcher even when she had not memory of making it because the details and the threading was identical to her other works. However, she really had no memory of making one and she can't just reveal such to Juan Long. The thing was, the dreamcatcher she made was as chaotic and controversial as her life, so as much as possible, she didn't want anyone to ask or pick an interest in it. This was the very reason she made the website anonymous.

"I won't force you if you don't want to talk about it Miss Garza," Juan long gave up asking questions as it seemed the girl was hesitant and he couldn't really demand it because that was not the main reason why he was here.

"Truth was, as I told you, the diamond prince seemed to have been interested in this dreamcatcher," Juan Long revealed. "So the very reason why I am here was to buy this from you,"

"What?" Crescent's shock went big at that. Immediately she asked. "How much?"

"Name your price," Juan Long told her, and for a moment the girl's world came to a stop. Did she just hear it right? The prince would like to have her dreamcatcher and would pay whatever amount just to have it?

"If I say five million, would you have it?" The girl attempted to offer a price for it even when she knew five million was too much of a price. Indeed, just as Juan Long heard it, he seemed to have been lost for words.

章節 13: In Love!

"We would have it at any price," Juan Long was determined and Crescent gulped at that.

Truth was that dreamcatcher was something very important to the girl as it was something that was left from her old self. The accident that happened to her three years ago caused her so much damage and prejudiced her relationship with her family and friends. Perhaps because she had been in a coma for a while, the people whom she left had been so used to her not being around that when she came back, it was hard to fit anymore. This disconnection and mistrust was one of the reasons why Crescent packed up and left her home country without thinking twice.

The dream catcher that Juan Long sought however was the only thing that made her hopeful. She always held onto it, like it was some kind of promise, a promise for a better future.

"I….I'm sorry sir," Crescent immediately withdrew from it. "I can't sell it. You see it is a very important piece to me. I can't just sell it to you,"

Juan Long stared at the girl for a while wondering what made her change her mind when she made a blatant offer at first. However, he can fail with his job today and so he insisted on it.

"Miss Garza, I'd like to know what we can do so you can sell it to us?" Juan asked, ready for another round of offer.

"I'm not going to sell it, I'm sorry," Crescent had made up her mind already, "I really apologize for wasting your time,"

"But Miss Garza—"

"Mr. Long, please…." Crescent cut him off before he can use his smart mouth to convince her. "I can let you buy the others, just not this one,"

Juan Long thought of it for a moment and sighed. Well, the knowledge that she was willing to sell all others was somehow enough for the day. He'll just wait and see what the prince thinks about it and plan again for the next day in case he'll still insist on the piece he was negotiating with the girl.

"Alright," Juan Long took all the documents he had, pushed it to his suitcase and stood from his seat. "Thank you for today Miss Garza, I'll see you again next time,"

"If it's about the dream catcher again, I hope there would be no next time," She told him, knowing how she was vulnerable to money these days. She knows that if he comes back his offer would be far more grand that five million pesos.

"You'd never know," Juan Long gave her a smile and headed for the door. When he exited, he could see everyone's eyes on him and wondered why everyone was flocking off just outside the door. Since the man never negotiated to small companies, their reaction then became unusual for him but he ignored the fact and left together with his men.

Crescent, who took deep breaths inside the office was oblivious to what was happening outside and so when she exited out the door her expression went comically amused. What is everyone doing?

"Cough.cough.cough," Georgi was the first one who first approached her. "If I'm not mistaken, you actually refused Juan Long today,"

"It's not Juan Long, it's the prince," Apple, another girl from Crescent's name interjected. "Miss Garza just rejected the prince today,"

"Where are you eavesdropping?" Crescent rolled an eye at the two. "Seriously? In front of his men?"

"We were eavesdropping from the other side, so his men probably didn't see us," Apple replied guilty and Crescent only shook her head with that. Despite everyone's curiosity, the girl just walked toward her desk and started checking on her emails. There's no point in wasting time early in the morning.

"What did the Montarini Prince offered to you Miss Garza?" Georgi pressed in, representing almost everyone in the room who were curious. Although people dispersed already and went back to each of their tasks, it was obvious that they still wanted to hear more about Juan Long's errand.

"Is it an offer for work?" Apple seconded.

"It's not that okay?" Crescent was almost annoyed but she tried to be composed as much as she could. As far as her to-do list goes, there should be more important things to keep focus on than just chatting with everyone. "Why would they even offer me some work? I'm not the best talent here in Media, Davina Chu is, right?"

It was a sarcasm that everyone took in quietly, not wanting to mess around. However, Georgi and Apple seemed to have not been convinced so they kept pestering her. They did some eavesdropping but what they heard wasn't enough for them to grasp what their private conversation is about.

"If it's not about work, then perhaps…." Apple thought about it. "Is it because Juan Long is interested in you?"

"He wouldn't dare be interested in me," It was more like a threat when Crescent said it. She had enough men and so she wanted no more of their kind even if he was Juan Long himself. Besides, their meeting really has nothing to do with it.

"If you are saying that…then perhaps…."

"Omigod! Is it the prince? Is the prince interested in you?" Georgi had his hands on his mouth when he said it, like he could not believe the thing but was already convinced that it was the truth. "Is that why the prince's men rallied here? Was it to impress you?"

"Shit! I get it now! Omigosh Crescent, are you the lucky woman?" Apple's voice went beyond the staring hard eyes that only became more intrigued at the revelation.

"Stop it you two!" Crescent glared at them but it seemed that the two had already lost their sanity over it.

"I knew it! I know indeed there was something very different about their visit!" Georgi was flabbergasted by his own conclusions. "Crescent, how lucky can you be?"

"The prince is in love with Crescent Garza!"
