Ali looked at me with playfully curious eyes, and I held on until I could. She knew and overheard everything yesterday when I threw that electrical tantrum out of my pent-up emotions. I looked her straight in the eyes, and although I wanted to deny her question, the words that tumbled out of my mouth were the opposite.

There was considerably a long pause before I would speak. And although it was only just a few seconds, time itself felt like it took longer to tic than usual.

"Yes, I guess you could all say that there is a bit of hope down here," I finally said.

I found myself admitting what was deep inside me, and that was I had slowly started to acknowledge Bash's efforts, and that I was truly bothered Missy Cath wanted him for herself.
