Hollow eyes stared back at Ace as he lost control over his body and remained on his spot.
The little lights around the carriage flickered with every jolt of the carriage. Their bony fingers traced the glass of the carriage, mouths completely sewn shut.
Their skin looked like burnt paper, withered plants and a hint of bark from your local trees.
"What … what is that?" he asked, watching as they followed his every minor movement. How? He couldn't tell. He just knew.
"They are …" The general stopped talking, grabbing the hilt of his sword hanging on the side of his waist. "Shh."
Ace quickly shut his mouth as all lights in the carriage went out and darkness enveloped them entirely.
Questions swirled around the boy's head but he refused to say a word for fear that he may cause something he did not want to happen, to happen.
Not that he knows what that might be.
