The group was silent as they waited for the first question.
"Who are you?"
"My real name is Fate… or Faith. Whichever you decide on… Before you ask as to why I go by Maria that is because I am under Witness Protection. Have been since I was about four. Antonio can vouch for the W.P. as well as Nathan"
After she answered Barnaby looked at the two who both nodded. "She's telling the truth."
He looked back at her. "Why are you under Protection?"
"My parents were killed by this man. I was forced to change my name since I was witness to the killing, though the officers never connected the evidence of the scene at first to the man, but they did after a month or two. They sent me to another city where someone watched me, but they were too busy for me and I was sent here"
He watched her reactions, sighing. He seemed to remember his own past for a moment. "Who is the Fate we know then?"
"My hero side. I wanted to do something fun and I mean… I was a hero at the place I was before I came here, but not under Fate or Maria or anything"
"Under Twisted?" he cut her off
"…Yes. Now if you could let me speak since I know you're going to ask about Twisted and why she's here in Sternbild I'll get there"
He liked that she was cooperating, but he was worried as to why she was being so honest. Yes, she was threatened, but no one is normally this cooperative.
"Twisted is a vigilante, going around and dealing with criminals her own way. It was always the bad ones that did crimes from kidnappings to killings and rape. That's what she did. Like Lunatic does his judgment, Twisted does her own" she looked toward the window to try and catch her train of thought, her waist becoming painful.
"Do you need anything, Maria?" Kotetsu butted in.
"…I'll be fine. It's nothing" she looked back at Barnaby.
"If you would continue"
"Twisted is a spy here. Under Hero TV she is to find a hideout of the villains in town that are NEXT; however, that brings up the issue of how is she supposed to do that without them knowing that she is a spy?"
"By acting like them?" Karina spoke out.
"Bingo. And that is what I did as Twisted. I acted like a villain, granted I did terrible at it. I created small disturbances and appeared here and there, running like hell away from" she stared at Barnaby "the rabbit who can't take 'leave me alone' as an answer"
Barnaby gave a slight growl as he watched her. "Watch your tongue"
"Hey, you wanted to truth. I'm giving it to you"
"She has a point" Kotetsu spoke up.
"Where were you the night that the man was killed?"
"In the warehouse. With Lunatic."
"What happened?"
"They found a spy and went to kill him. They stopped and looked at me and wanted me to kill him to show I truly was Twisted"
"And you did?"
"I tried to short his neurons out to knock him out. I still don't have control of my abilities so…"
"That's how he died with an implosion?"
"Yes. All hell broke loose after that happened since Lunatic left and they were practically raided. I came back as Fate, not really knowing I burned myself from doing that…"
"Which explains why you wear gloves," Pao-Lin said.
"That and cause" she tugged at her right arm, "this hand here up to my elbow. It isn't real. I had an accident that shattered it and I had to get a new arm."
They all nodded and watched her. "It's what I can use to make my outfit changes. There's a kinetic plate in it. Sponsors were kind enough to do this for me."
Barnaby pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to think of other questions, not expecting her to be so straightforward about this. He was truthfully annoyed with her being so cooperative.
