章節 54: It was over

I missed this feeling, it's been a long time since I last warged into anything.

Flying freely in the sky my eyes could see every cavalry soldier I had, including the Dothraki slowly getting into position behind one of the hills located a bit further away from the enemy encampment.

My sight was so good, that I could even see the bodies of the dead sentries piled on the side and our scouts vigilantly watching for any, even small enemy movement.

Continuing on my mission I flew above them and saw the forest of tents in the distance.

For a moment, even I was mesmerized by the sight and the sheer scale of it. Only for a moment though.

The beauty of the picture ended when I heard loud singing, exited shouts of drunken men and the screams and cry's for help of slave women ra*ed in almost every place around the camp.

There was no forgiveness for them, no escape... but there was hope and we were it.

I tried not to pay attention to any of it, it was even clearer now that they treated the earlier battle as nothing but a game... and they will pay.

I flapper my falcon wings and moved closer spotting the biggest and most extravagant tent in the center of the "forest" with ease.

Different from the other places, here there was no joyful mood like in the previous locations, from the sound of it they were drinking as well, but the biggest difference were the shouts of Khal Agrro.

"I want them dead! All of them!" my small body gently landed on the wooden support of the tent as I tried to listen to what was said, even after my mission of finding him was over. "They killed my son! My blood!" I heard him pacing and breaking things inside.

"Blood of my blood and we will, but today we need to rest. We were riding hard to get here after finding their trail, the men are tired and need some rest." it surely was one of his two blood riders that survived.

"It's only two days without sleep! Is their fucking rest more important than killing that son of a whore that killed their Kalakka? I! Am! Their! Khal!" I could hear the drunken stupor in his words. Good, drink more. It's your last moment in this world.

My heart was singing in happiness as I heard enough and flew back to my men. What welcomed me was an organized and ready to charge at a moment notice formation with the fully armored knights at the front with Ser Gerold leading, followed by my light cavalry and the Dothraki.

Ser Gerold stretched his forehand giving me the space I needed to land on it.

"Did you found him?" he whispered and I nodded, we disregarded any titles for this time.

Unfortunately it was our only way of communicating as I couldn't loose time warging our and traveling to them, especially with my wounds.

"Left, center, right?" He asked again and I gave two low, harsh "kak, kak" and looked at him for more questions.

"Are they expecting us? Are they prepared to react?" that were the most important question for him. If the answer would not be satisfactory he would even scratch the assault, fortunately for us they were not and I shook my head.

"Good! Good!" he wanted to get some payback as well. "Tell the men to get ready!" He turned and ordered his second in command.

It wasn't even more than 2-3 minutes and now I saw everyone on their horses ready for what was about to come.

Determined looks ready for some payback, clenched fists holding hard the reins, eager to order the horses to gallop with revenge in mind.

The Dothraki were the most thirsty for some blood as they could not do anything during this days battle.

Truthfully each of them felt worthless. Hearing how their Khal got wounded charging bravely in the midst of the enemies, helping his men in defense and protecting them.

They could not understand his actions at all at the beginning but when Oro, one of their Khal's new blood riders explained how the Blood Stallion thinks of all of his people as family they finally got it.

If Brendan would hear the conversations that took place throughout the New Lhazar and the Khalasar camp he would be surprised how effective Rina's magic and her people were.

Voice after voice the young Dothraki blamed themselves for their shortcomings and not being able to aid their Khal like they were expected to.

The Andal part of cavalry, light or heavy received such a large influx of new blood that they had to designate more instructors from active service and order more armor from Winter Fort.

Finally the new blood, the young Dothraki were willing to change their old ways and donned the armor they detested so much before.

"Can you show us the way?" Ser Hightower took out his sword followed by the rest behind him.

I nodded again and flew up again already sure that someone will hear us soon.

Then it began.

I flew in the front, illuminated by the light of the moon, it was not hard for my men to spot me, the sound of my falcon cry confirming my location every few minutes.

The charge was so swift, so precise that it almost looked effortless under my old knight lead.

I led at the proverbial tip of the spear few times already, yet comparing to an experienced warrior like Ser Gerold I probably gave a feeling of a fearless wolf cub not understanding my role.

Now Ser Gerold... that's a totally different story, the men under his command gave an oppressive feeling, like predators ready to mercilessly pounce at their prey.

I was about 20 meters in front of the charge, with each flap of my wings we were getting closer, my keen sight shifted from side to side looking at the panicking screamers hastening to dress, grabbing their weapons and running to their horses.

Kos shouts after understanding the situation in futile attempts to rally the men under them for nought filled the camp.

Then the massacre began.

I circled around Khal's tent, showing my brave warriors the way sounding off from time to time.

It was really unnecessary as after the first riders collided with the unlucky few Dothraki that managed to mount their mounts only for my heavy cavalry to catapult them of their horses dead or dying.

It was the first time that I saw someone's eyes just pop out from the sheer force of impact.

The ones that were acting brave and charged at my men without their steeds were cut down so fast that I don't think their brains managed to registered what actually happened to them.

The first waive of our attack got closer to my position, the stupefied Khal and his closest men shouting orders after running out of the tent left and right, yet to no vain as no one listened.

The big man with his axe ready for the first rider to come his way, blood shot eyes and fury written all over his face.

I tried to guess his thoughts from his feelings and the probably were how could he expect that the ants that he wanted to crush next day dared to mount a surprise attack, and at night to top all that!

He never thought about how the bugs that he could crush under the might of his forces managed to come so close to his camp without being noticed, how did they knew where he was as the charge was clearly aiming at his life, he was just furious that he didn't led the days attack with his men when he had the chance to finish it all before once and for all and now... it came to this.

Not wanting to retreat he prepared for the most important swing of his axe. I watched his eyes and knew that he still had hope and thirst for victory.

Looking in front of him I saw what I expected, Ser Gerold leading the charge, battled and bloodied from the previous life and death fights.

His steed charging with all its might, leading the way as if it was like an arrow that was let loose with one target in mind.

My sight wavered for a split second when I felt my knight strong emotions.

"Shit!" Brendan gave out the loudest falcon cry up till now only to meet the calm eyes of one of his mentors and friends and he understood.

There is no way to win this fight without getting wounded or killed in the process and as experienced knight as his sworn shield was, Ser Gerold surely knew about it as well.

'Like I let that happen' the boy thought to himself and brought his wings closer to his body and dived down.

You must understand that falcons are the fastest birds while doing so and even the old knight surely was not able to follow his movement especially at night, but what he did see was his target grabbing his face with a painful scream while letting go of his weapon.

'Stupid boy..." the commander's heels kick his horse with a small smile on his lips making it sped up more and seconds later it was done.

The Khal was dead.

Shouts of victory spread throughout the charging men, even with the now closed escape route they did not panic and faithfully fought in their only lords name. "For our Lord", some gave their last war cry burning with almost fanatical reverence for House Dustin with a smile on their faces before the flame of life vanished from their eyes.

The encirclement didn't last long as the eight thousand Dothraki charged from the back, freeing the Andal cavalry giving them a way to escape and a new lease for life.

Ser Bryce came up to his friend and took the Khal's head from him placing it at the top of his spear at the same time giving a deafening bear shout in broken Dothraki.

"Khal is dead!" the closest screamers to him released their own shouts of victory accompanied by a happy, falcon cry.

It was over.
