Ben made his way through the deadly corridor in a steady pace before reaching the door at the other end of the corridor. The same way Ben was brought here he left.
"Welcome!!" immediately Ben appeared on the first floor of the Magic tower he got startled and jumped back almost drawing out an imaginary sword in the process. His back bumped into the door but it didn't take him somewhere else in the Magic tower. He didn't notice this in his state of shock.
"Damn, we scared the shit out of him." said a girl.
"Well, it was your idea in the first place." a boy besides her interjected.
Ben dumbly stared at the two then realized this was some sort of welcoming party. Ask three of them just kept staring at each other until they heard another voice.
"Hang on, I'm almost there!" a petite voice came from the entrance door, followed by a young girl of about 15 or 16 years of age. She held onto some books, had blonde ponytail tied with a pink ribbon, big round brown eyes, small noise and lips. In other words she was in the early stages of puberty, she also had the same colour of robe as wizards Belti's students and every other student. "Oh, I'm late again, huh? *sigh* Welcome to The Phantom, I'm Pudding." Pudding did a bit sad.
"Aw, don't be like that Pudding, you'll always come first in our heart." The girl from earlier said hugging the young Pudding.
Ben now understood why she would be sad over this. She hardly does things on time.
"That's a lovely name, Pudding. I'm Benjamin but my friends call me Ben." giving the young girl a sweet smile he winked. They all got the message, she is from now one his friends and can call him 'Ben'.
"I'm Sonia, by the way." the older girl said. 'He is so handsome, I wonder if he has a girlfriend?' Sonia thought to herself.
"I'm Ricky, and I'm your senior." the young man besides Sonia said.
"Hello, want to ask though, is this all wizard Belti's students?" Ben asked.
"He told you guys name?" Ricky sounded like it was something unreal.
"Well, no. But, isn't that common sense to know?" asked Ben.
"Ouch Ricky. No Ben, there are two others but they are in closed doors training, both trying to have a breakthrough." Sonia explained.
"Ben, is that red horse yours?" the cute Pudding asked. Both Sonia and Ricky exchanged glances not knowing about an animal in their tower.
"Yeah, would you like to see him? I can introduce you to him." Ben smiled.
"Yes please, I'd love to." Pudding jumped excited.
They all followed Ben outside the tower to where he tied Flamion. Ben and the others walked towards Flamion with steady steps, because of the excitement of seeing Flamion the others didn't realize Ben's footsteps couldn't be heard, this was also thanks to the environment.
Flamion, at first seeing some strange faces coming towards it wanted to become hostile, but when it saw Ben it calmed down.
"Hey buddy, didn't keep you waiting too long, right?" Ben pat the horse on the neck. "I brought friends." he added.
Ben proceed to introduce everyone to Flamion. And so they stayed around for some time. Ben was able to find out more about their mentor, wizard Belti, and the school. Ricky and Sonia were both from big families from different parts of the kingdom that studies magic. Pudding, herself was also a Chosen that came from another kingdom, but unlike them she was just an ordinary girl when was introduced into the world of magic.
A while later they went back inside. Ben was told that an entire floor was all his. Ben put all his luggage into his wizard storage pouch since he can't use his spatial ring and there wasn't enough space in his Hunter's storage pouch.
Once the white light flashed Ben and Ricky appeared in the third floor. Ricky showed Ben his bedroom, restroom, store, he even had his own lab, meditation room and study. Ben was thankful for his help and sent him off.
Ben took a quick shower then changed into his magic robe, it was black and had gray lines at its edge. Although it looked thick it was also light, he found out he could adjust it's size just like how Ricky had told him earlier, all he had to do was send a bit of his Mindpower into the robe to do that. He could also make the robe adjust the temperature within to either be warm or cold. However, he doubted it could protect him from elemental spells.
Since it was already evening by the time he was done arranging his room, even going as far as changing the bed to his, he immediately fell asleep. Finally having a nice bed and a comfortable place with a roof over his head, Ben now was able to sleep with both eyes closed. Sleeping in the middle of the wasteland was nerve wrecking and mentally exhausting.
While Ben was having a good nights sleep, the black rock Ben hid underneath his bed all because it refuses to be put into any spatial storage device began to glow with purple and silver hue, at this same time Ben's veins where resonating together with the same black rock. This is going to be an unbreakable link between him and whatever the black rock is.
The next morning Ben. woke up early like always. Going to the bathroom he washed his face and brushed his teeth, after that he teleported down stairs. In arriving, no one else was awake, maybe because it was only 4:00 in the morning. Normally by now Ben would do some sword drills.
Ben took some apples for Flamion and his sword then went to the backyard of the tower where he tied Flamion. He spent the next two hours in some intense sword drill mixed with martial arts. Even though his profession has no need for that he still practiced it. Eventual two hours went by with not a single sweat on him.
Ben packed his things and returned inside only to see everyone downstairs but hardly awake. Sonia and Ricky could hardly keep their eyes open and couldn't wait to return to the comfort of their beds. He wondered why they still looked so sleepy when it was well passed six in the morning, that's when realization hit him. Most of the kids that are brought here are mostly spoilt brat and those who weren't become incredibly arrogant and spoilt.
"How came come you are already awake?" Sonia asked with a yawn.
"Well I was a Hunter and Hunters don't sleep as much as they like or else demon creatures and fierce beast could take your lives. So what do you guys normally do around here?"
"Oh we forgot to tell you this yesterday. For your first few months you are expected to study and meditate to build up your foundation. If you're a genius then you can begin forming your Elemental Spheres. It takes some time to solidity and strengthen ones Elemental Spheres so from there you can learn about creating spell models. You should know though, inserting your spell models into your Elemental Spheres is a very hard process. I've been here for two years now and I'm about to promote my Fire-type spell model into a First-level spell model, that will allow me to have my very first First-level spell."
"Whoa, whoa, I thought you said you've only been here for a little over two years, how come you're a already about to have your first First-level spell model? Shouldn't it take about three years at least?"
"Dude, more than half the students in this school are from a magic background, they already know basics and fundamentals of magic right from an early age unlike people who just came into the world of magic." Ricky explained. Ben could swear the way he looked at him when he said that last part changed only for a second, but it didn't escape his eyes.
"If you're about to create your first First-level Elemental spell model doesn't that mean you can no longer add another element to the rank below?" asked Ben to Sonia.
"Yes, that's correct. Once you begin creating a spell model of the next rank you can never go back. But I don't think anybody is that stupid." Sonia laughed at the possibility.
"Why do you say so?"
"It is because, my dear friend, once you do that the balance between your Elemental Spheres will be threatened, causing your spiritual world to be imbalanced and at the brink of destruction." Ricky answered popping some grapes into his mouth.
"Is that what makes the wizards I've seen so far I only have three elements? Why can't they have more or even all seven of them?"
They all looked at Ben like he was a ghost. Any signs of sleep has been a totally vanished from their eyes as they stared at Ben with wide eyes and gaping mouths.
"Ben, it is simply impossible for one's awareness to be able to hold so many elements. The highest limit for people is four, any more than that will lead to instability causing other stable spell models to become unstable. It is better not to bite more than you can chew." Pudding added from the side showing the little knowledge she'd acquired in her stay in The Phantom.
"What about opposite elements?"
"You'll explode!" all three of them shouted aloud. They were beginning to fear if Ben wasn't suicidal.
"Well, okay. I get it, no need to shout about it."
And so Ben's life in the Magic Institute, The Phantom, began. For the next three weeks Ben didn't leave his apartment to chat with the others, only coming down to grab his food for the day.
