章節 68: Faking Their Identity

"Vivi!" Stephan was very displeased and disappointed by his sisters act.

Ben ignored the young man's yelling. He didn't think it was a bad thing to ask such questions, it only depend on the mood and atmosphere of the environment.

"They are the reason my mother died during child birth, my child birth." Ben replied with a smile. Even though it wasn't the same soul that inhabits the body, it was the same blood that still flows. The thought of not seeing his mother struck Ben to the core. He didn't have a mother back on Earth, and here he could have had one, yet it was snatched away from him.

"I am so sorry." Vivi's eyes looked at Ben apologetically when she heard Ben's words. Doesn't that mean he never saw his mother? she thought.

Stephan's opened his eyes wide as he heard Ben, it wasn't a must to have answered Vivi yet he did and his answer made him sad too. "Sorry for your lose."

"That's enough of the past, what makes you want to go into the kingdom? You guys aren't from around here, right?" Ben was really good at changing topics a lot.

"I... I'm planning on working in any of the offices in the ministry of Finance. My dream is to become the best economist this kingdom has ever had." after calming for a bit Stephan beat his chest in pride.

"Oh, you are educated, that's rare. You must be very lucky, not a lot of people can do what you can do." Ben said, he was quite surprised though. The both turned to face Vivi for her speech.

"I want to become a cook. Even though I can't read that well but when it comes to cooking I am the best. I will blow their minds away." she said raising her head high.

"More like blow there bellies away, haha! She is right, my sister's cooking is one of the best. Anyway what brings you to BlackAsh. I am Stephan by the way." Stephan stretched his hands for a handshake instead of clasping arms which Ben took with a much nobler handshake. Fortunately, or unfortunately, Stephan wasn't that educated in ethics he didn't know the difference between the two handshake. "And this is my younger sister, Vivi."

"Nice to meet you. You can call me Ben." Ben shook her hand. "I have some skill in cooking too. Maybe I'll consider working in a restaurant for some time." Ben said with an awkward smile on his face.

"Oh, do you know how to cook huh? Do you have any connections in the kingdom where you can work already?" Vivi asks with interest. They had the same things in common!

"Uh, no. Do you?" Ben asked.

"No, we don't. We might have to apply in multiple places and that might take weeks maybe months." Stephen was imagining how long their struggle would be. "Ben, do you currently have a place to stay behind the walls?" he asked.

Ben opened his eyes as he came to a realization. "You two don't have a place to sleep, do you? Then why did you... Urgh. Opportunities. We can sort that out later, you two can stay with me if you want though." Ben offered.

"There won't be..."

"We will gladly accept your offer, Ben." before Stephen could continue Vivi cut him off.

'Hmm, I can't continue waiting outside here, if I do I might stay here for days. I need to go in through that gate but I don't feel like leaving the guys behind.' Ben thought to himself. "Stephan, you said wizards can go in through that gate, right?" Ben turns to Stephen having a plan.

"Yeah, wizards can bring people in too, if you knew any to bring you along."

"That's if they aren't a prick about." Vivi murmur at the side.

Ben ignored her words. "Oh really?"

"Do you really know any wizard, Ben." Vivi asks.

"Something like that, What about Hunters?"

"Only if you are an A rank above or you've completed an A+, S, and SS rank mission, why do you ask?" said Stephan.

"Like I thought,"Ben mumbles to himself. "what if I say we could go in without waiting any longer, would you follow me?" Ben said, his confidence and charisma was something else.

"What do you have in mind...?" Stephan widened his eyes when he took a better look at the young man before him who doesn't have that much age difference between them. Realization downed on him when he saw the ordinary looking Hunter's suit he was wearing. Even though it was ordinary men words held some weight.

"Come on them we have to go." Ben stood up and left the line.

When the people behind them saw Ben leaving they had thought he had already lost hope in making his way into the kingdom so they did what they would have done. Move forward. Ben was never going to return to his position anymore. Vivi and Stephan had no power to stop this.

The siblings were reluctant at first; Firstly, they had only known Ben for less than an hour, meaning he was a complete stranger to them. Yet he was willing to help them. Secondly, it had taken them days to get to where they currently stand and giving it away was something hard to do.

"Do you think we should follow him, brother?" Vivi asked in doubt.

"I don't know, but it looks like he has a way to enter through noblemen gates." Stephan said looked at Ben's back.

"Why don't we give it a shot? What do your say?"

"I don't know Vivi, we've stayed in the line for so long, leaving it now will be just stupid." Stephan still wasn't ready to leave, he found it hard to make up his mind.

Vivi looked at her brother and the young man offering them a help slowly making his way towards the gate that they might never have the chance to use. She remembered one of the things get mother tells her all the time... in the kitchen. 'If you fear the knife because it can chop off your finger if careless, how then do you expect yourself to cut what will be used to cook your world-changing delicacies?' In other words it was just the same as dating one most be ready to take risks.

Vivi gathered the courage and cast away her fears then dragged her brother out of the line. All those behind them were thrilled when they saw two extra people leaving. The less people there is in the line, the less time they have to wait to enter the Kingdom of Opportunities.

"So how do you plan in going in, Ben?" Stephan asked as they caught up with Ben.

"Why over there, of course." Ben said pointing to the small gate specialized for nobles or the rich and powerful.

"What!? Did you not here a single word that I had said earlier?" Ben's words made Stephan flip.

"No need to worry, you'll be thanking me later. Now shut up and play accordingly with me." Ben didn't know whether to laugh or cry when seeing Stephan's reaction.

"You are so..."

"Stephan, don't you think he has a way after seeing how confident he is? Please just give it a try." Vivi interrupted Stephan from saying things he'll regret later.

"Ben, tell my what do you want?" Stephan took no more steps forward and demanded from Ben. He unconsciously pulled Vivi behind his back.

Ben smile and was in fact glad that they had a few brain cells, it would be a pain in his ass if they were easy to dupe and so naïve. Thankfully they weren't.

"Please, Stephan, you really don't have to worry about me having any motives on your sister. I have no friends, and thought with this I can make a long lasting relationship with you two. I only ask for your trust." Ben said with a knowing smile.

Stephan didn't know what else to say, only mumbling something Ben couldn't hear.

The guards stationed at the gates used by nobles exchanged glanced when they saw Ben's group approaching. Like professionals, they didn't act irrational by sending them away only because they were coming from the lines low level citizens and migrants use. They waited to see what the three youths were about to pull.

"May I know your identity." the guards said standing poised in position.

"Does The Phantom still have passage through these gates?" Ben graciously wiped his hands and a wooden staff materialized.

The guards frown at first when they saw Ben making a staff appear, there was something called a portal bag yet only the Hunter's Guild and wizards have them. It was when they saw the jet black ring in the hand Ben was using to hold the staff did they also notice the was no portal bag tired on his waist. They fidget a bit before strengthening their mind.

'We didn't do anything wrong!'

'We didn't do anything wrong!'

They kept chanting these words in their minds hoping they hadn't angered the young man... no, The powerful person before them.

"We're are sorry sir for not recognizing you earlier." one of the guards amongst the two couldn't stop shaking as he spoke. The other had turned into a mute.

"Haha, no need to fret about it men. You were only doing your job, that's all. Besides if you were to know who I was don't you think things would have been easier. I brought my servants with me, how that isn't a problem though?" Ben laughed while striking a conversation, this only made the guards sweat even more.

"No... no, not at all, sir. You can bring them along with you, we... we just hope they..."

"Oh, don't worry, I'll make sure I keep them in check." Ben cut in.

"Then... then welcome to the kingdom of BlackAsh sir." the trembling guard said.
