章節 63: Reward

Meanwhile, back at the Flaming Leopard camp, there was a huge commotion. Four people whom they had wanted to interrogate and definitely rob - since it was common among mercenaries - have suddenly gone missed.

The noisy drunkard. The two beauties. Even the injured individual who couldn't stand by himself has all gone missing unknowingly!

"How is that possible?!" Saks' roar can be heard throughout the whole camp. "I specifically said keep an eye on each and every-ONE of them. How the fuck did four people disappear where there's more than twenty people in this camp? Chad, you were the first to approach, right? Explain what happened." captain Saks bellowed causing his aura of a Fourth-level elemental swordsman to be unleashed.

"When I arrived at the groups sitting area, I had invited them over to our side, however, the men in the group declined and asked the women to come with me if they wanted to, and so they did. After some time chatting they excused themselves yet they didn't return when we were waiting." Chad explained everything without giving out any useful information that might help. It was totally useless as it wasn't a solution.

"Hmm. Ohan, explain." Saks sighed.

"We... we invited the leader of their *hiccup* of their... group to have a few drinks with us, which he... did. We had *hiccup* ...one, three, no... I think it's definitely *hiccup* thirteen. He got reeaaaly drunk and spent. Staggered like a drunk all ooover the entire camp *hiccup* He didn't look... suspicious... sooo we went about our... work. Thud." Ohan fell asleep right there and then on the floor. He was just that drunk. This really angered Saks.

"You... You drank with a Nictavian and expected him to get drunk with you lot! Fuck! Not even a whole barrel can get a ten year old Nictavian drunk. How fucking useless can you lots be to think a Nictavian can ever get drunk! Useless fucking idiots!" Saks tried to calm his nerves by taking deep breaths.

"I don't see how they are related to our missions." a voice came even before a body appeared. At one corner of the tent a shadowy figure emerged. A woman in tight black combat suit that revealed all her devilish curves. This was none other than the Thief that visited Ben. "Or did we choose the wrong mission? If that's so, then I'll return with my men."

"Zayn, no... We haven't changed the mission. The thing is the news of a Second-level Ice elemental swordsman that hasn't even reached twenty-five has become a hot topic. This is why I believe the young lad in their group should be the..."

"Well you are wrong." Zayn's voice interrupts Saks from continuing.

"What do you mean?"

"I've met with the kid. So he isn't the one, no elemental seed and no Mindpower. He can't be the one."

"I still have my doubts though, but you're right, we have to continue with our main mission."

Ben and the others had no idea what had been in store for them. They should be glad.

Ben's group has finally exited the forest and was met with a bustling city. They headed straight to the Hunter's Guild HQ without any troubles. It was a very easy place to find. Two hours of traveling from one side of the city to the other, they finally reached the Hunter's Guild.

"Welcome to Apanas Hunter's Guild. How may I help you today?" the young man behind the counter said with a bright smile. "Are you here to submit or accept a mission? If you are..."

"We want to submit a mission." Cush's deep voice interrupted the young man from his continuous blabbering. Cush materialized his Hunter's badge which shows his rank as an A rank Hunter. Ben will never stop being amazed by the way the Hunter's badge is connected to the user's soul. This prevents stealing of badges.

Cush brought out a brown scroll and gave the man. Only missions from the international board are handed out with scrolls, this allows the Hunters to be able to submit the mission in any other Hunter's Guild HQ they find themselves throughout the Kingdom.

Take Ben's group for example, they set off from Versal yet they find themselves in Apanas. The International mission's board allows this. This is also mainly because the missions are A+, S and SS rank missions.

The young man was taken aback by the appearance of a mission scroll and immediately changed the way he looked at these group of people in front of him. He opened the scroll carefully and what he saw nearly made his eyes jump off their sockets.

'MISSION:

TRAVEL INTO THE BADLANDS AND RETRIEVE 10 ANCIENT ARTIFACT.'

These words were what was written on top of the scroll. He picked up the scroll and looked again.

"Ahem!" Cush gave a fake cough after seeing the dazed man wasn't snapping out of it.

"*cough* *cough*... please come with me." the man directly invited them to the top floor.

They arrived at a door and the young man knocked once, then waited. His body was clearly unsettled with a face as though he won a lottery. Sometime later a voice resounded behind the door.

"Come in." All five of them entered the room.

Cush and the others waited by the door while the young man took the scroll to a middle aged man at the end of the room who sat behind a long mahogany wooden table painted black. The two exchanged some words and glanced at them from time to time during their conversation.

The man behind the mahogany table had thick brown hair reaching his upper back, even though he looked wild he had the air of a scholar. Another thing that caught the groups attention was his elemental seed level, the man before them was a Fifth-level elemental swordsman, stronger than Saks. This mission alone was a very huge eye opener to Ben.

"My name is Hassan Bulmar and I'm the manager of this Head quarter," he then lifted the scroll the young man handed to him. " my assistant told me about your mission, an S rank mission and you say you are here to submit this mission and not reject?" Hassan's eyes bore into the four of them wanting to 'see' the answers rather than wait for them to answer. "I'll be honest with you all, you people are the only ones who have 'succeeded' this mission over the past decade and the pool gathered for it is already quite large. However, you'll have to prove that you have actually completed the mission... Or else, you have to bare the consequences." Hassan's eyes looked them with a stern gaze. wasn't going to believe four people managed to clear one S rank mission all by themselves.

Without thinking much Cush held out a leather pouch with two swords forming an X inside a seven edge star, this was a storage pouch the International mission's board give those taking part in the International mission's.

Cush brought out two Artifacts from the pouch. Hassan put on a one lens glass to appraise these Artifacts.

"Are you also an appraiser?" in the middle of his work Ben suddenly spoke.

Hassan stopped and stood tall before them, his gaze on Ben was piercing. "What do we have here? Are you by any chance an appraiser yourself?" Hassan asked with a smile.

"No, I am not. But, I can see you are missing and rush-touching some places with nothing but your bare hands. At least that little I know. And I don't think a Fifth-level elemental swordsman can be a professional appraiser, sir." Ben spoke pointed out things that are obvious to an appraiser. Little did he know that his action made the rest turn ashen.

"Ben, what are you doing?" Evelyn asked worriedly.

"You don't have to worry young lad, even though I'm not a professional appraiser, I know a few things and trying to take these for myself wouldn't happen, so be rest assured. I wouldn't be a manager of a Head Quarter if I did such a thing, now would I?" the manager, Hassan, said with a grin making him look even more less assuring.

"I..." just as Ben was about to refute his words both Evelyn and Zoe jabbed him in the rib cage with their elbows. "...I believe you wouldn't." Ben smiled back with a calm expression.

"Sir, please forgive my partner for his unruling act just now, I..." Cush quickly spoke but was cute short.

"Oh please, don't tell me that. Like you weren't worried I'd suddenly say these were all fake and kick you all out." his grin flashed again as he saw through Cush's worry. "I am actually pleased as he was able to notice such detail. Call the old man for me please." he turned to his assistant saying.

Moments later a man was brought in, he was several times more older than Hassan and had a slightly hunched back. The old man didn't bother greeting Ben and the rest and so they didn't greet him too. Simply walking towards the items displayed, he began his work.

It took the man a little more than thirty minutes to appraise each of the five items down. Surprise and shock were evident in the man's face. He asked for the other Artifacts and inspected them as well. After two hours of continuous interruption from Hassan, because the old man kept trailing off from his work, he would begin speaking to himself about the texture and intricate designs found, if it wasn't for Hassan they might stay for an extra five hours. The appraisers face was shinning with glee whence he was done.

Hassan understood what it meant when the old man was truly interested in an item, it meant the person who brought this item really did complete the mission.

"Congratulations, you have won the Pool money for the 'into the Badlands S rank mission. How will the reward be distributed, to you all or is it too be given to one person? You may as well take your time to decide as we send this to the Hunter's Guild in the capital while you decide on that." Hassan said with a beaming smile. He was now one of the most luckiest managers in the Hunter's Guild. For an A+, S, and SS rank mission to be submitted to your HQ either the Guild HQ becomes a lot more popular or the manager gets promoted. Hassan was hoping it would be the latter in his case.

'What,' Ben's eyes widened. 'How long would that take? I don't think a month would even be enough to send and receive things all the way to the capital.' Ben was in disbelief. Unfortunately he didn't know there were shorter ways to send goods to other places, however that is one of the most expensive things in the world today. Heck! even Duchies wouldn't send goods recklessly through this means much less other nobles. Ben was currently crying inwardly.

"We actually haven't discuss on that yet, please give a moment." Cush said to Hassan then led the group out the door. They went farther away from the door towards the end of the corridor where spring ears wouldn't hear them. "So, how do you think we should share the reward amongst us, how ab..."

"I want to give mind to Ben." before Cush could finish his words Evelyn cut in.
