(AN: once again sorry for the early ending in the previous chapter. I would make up for it but I just restarted school and have to prepare for some tests coming up soon. I would like to say that I will eventually get round to it but...if it's really important just spam it in the comments. I hope you enjoy ;p.)
Walking up to Konan, Yokoji notices a hint of nervousness on her face. One that would normally be seen when people are about to do something bad and are starting to have second thoughts.
"Are you sure you want to do this Konan? I'll be fine on my own..." Yokoji slowly drags off on his sentence as he sees a look of determination appeared on her face.
He sighs as he realised that she was committed to this. Although Yokoji knew that he would have to introduce Konan into more of the shady side of being a ninja. He wanted to try and keep her pure as long as possible. He enjoys the loving look that always appears on her face while completing origami. Or the captivating eyes that seemed to brim of innocence. He didn't...he didn't want her to be tainted by the evil of this world...
Sighing again he waited for the outburst that he knew was soon to come from Konan, and sure enough, it did.
"What do you mean, do I want to do this? Do you think I'm going to let you go out there and risk being caught just because I'm scared?!" Konan accused Yokoji, giving him a bit of side-eye, that if looked closely was full of worry and protectiveness.
Ever since Konan started to train to be a ninja, and create new and powerful (for them) moves. She started to become more protective of him. Yokoji sighed at the thought.
Although he loved her company, he would have to show her that he was not the one who would need protecting. He was the one that would be protecting her.
She didn't seem to understand the amount of pain that it brought to Yokoji to see her injured. The panic he went through.
Yokoji has never had...a companion I guess you would call it. He's always been on his own. No one ever understanding him. People who call themselves his friend don't seem to even get him.
People didn't seem to know how to like him. He was thought of as a nuisance by all. The last to be picked, the last to know.
Anyone who was to be paired up with him during his school days would groan with annoyance. They would look at their other friends as if wishing to escape him.
Yokoji never knew why this was. He always tried hard. He always tried hard to make friends. Yet, it never seemed to work...
He eventually started to guard himself, and whenever he started hanging around with others. He reminded himself about the repetitive pattern of before. How he went from one group of friends to another. Seemingly with no one to stop him.
They shouted and they picked on him. He was at the bottom of the barrel.
He was...no one.
Yet, that changed once he came to this world. Here he could start a new life.
He remembered his first meeting with Konan. Not knowing whether or not his she would be the same to him as others were beforehand.
If he was doomed to live a failed life once again. How even with a second lease at life, it would be a waste. How he would end up wondering on his own once again.
Never making friends, never having acquaintances. He would just be a shell of a person. A tool of others or a tool for himself.
He wouldn't have a past or a future. He would just be there. Standing. Wondering what things, what things could have been.
Yet, these thoughts were broken as she took his hands.
When he carried her home and saw her hopeful expression. He was determined.
No-one could take her away from him. He didn't care what would happen. He knew deep down, that a world without her, wouldn't be one he wanted to be in.
He made his first friend. Maybe their weird relationship would progress in the future.
Thinking of the time they have spent together, although short. Has been the best part of both lives.
That is why he would be willing to give his own life away again, as long as she could keep that smile on her face...

(AN: really wanted to end the chapter on that note, but it's too short, :(. )
(P.s: sorry if I ranted a bit there...)
Waking up from his stupor, he saw Konan looking at him with a different look than before. 'Damn it I forgot she could feel what I was feeling' Sighing he hoped that Konan wouldn't bring it up.
"Let's go then..." Konan said to him.
'Good, we will have this chat in the future Konan, but not now, not here. I want to make you feel special at the time, I want you to be able to see just what place you hold in my heart. Just what you have done for me.'
A faint smile was brought upon both their faces after Yokoji said that in his mind. For Yokoji it was due to his hope for the future. For Konan, although she couldn't hear what he said, he felt it in his emotions. She was looking forward to their future as well.
They walked outside in the night, closing the house door behind them. A happy atmosphere flying around.
***
At the butchers' house in town, Yokoji signaled to Konan to stand back a bit. As she walked away from the front door of the building Yokoji went forward.
They were trying to be silent, as even the most subtle of sounds in the dead of night could make it seem as if an elephant was at your front door.
Thankfully, the weather was perfect for their mission, as it was raining, Yokoji could use his gift to tell if anyone was coming close. He had set up a cloud near the street they were on for tonight, but it seems it was not needed.
Going to the front door Yokoji put his finger in front of the crude lock. Although he could probably pick it with some tools. It would make some sound, so instead, he silently thread some water he had from the raindrops on his hand, through the lock hole.
Seconds later, a faint clicking sound was heard, as the door swung forward silently.
Konan and Yokoji quickly entered. They had scouted the shop the day before, so they already knew where the long-term food storage was kept.
Walking silently, they saw a light appear from the stairways. Over where the butcher and his wife slept.
Soon the butcher walked downstairs as he thought he heard some sort of noise.
Walking in he looked around the area but couldn't find anyone around.
He went back to the shop door and found that it was still shut and locked. Yawning in exhaustion, he grumbled something under his breath as he walked back upstairs. Wanting to go back to sleep.
What the butcher didn't know, however, was if he was to look up, even slightly. He would have seen a young boy and girl on the roof sweating with fear.
Yokoji sighed in relief that he didn't forget to close the door or lock it.
Slowly going down to the butchers' floor, Konan and Yokoji looked at each other and let out large smiles, as the adrenaline from it all was seeping in.
They knew they had to be quick or else the butcher might come back down, and they didn't want to have to stand on the ceiling again. It was worrying enough the first time.
Sneakily grabbing big piles of meat from the storage. Including but not limited to jerky. They looked in some cupboards and found some bread that the butchers' wife got from the baker yesterday.
The young boy and girl didn't care why he gave it to her, but since they saw the exchange they decided to take it too as they wanted a bit of variety.
Running out of the shop as quick as they could without making any sound, Konan decided to leave them a little gift, as she floated down a red crane onto the selling counter.
It would be the first thing the butcher family would see when they came downstairs, however they would never know what it would truly represent.
Far in the future, this little calling card will only ever be used by one group. And this one group would be able to strike the fear into many others. Making even the great Kages of the Ninja villages worried if it were to appear near them.
Having said that, this did not matter to the beautiful young girl, whose blue hair swept on the night. Or the young boy, whose normally cold expression was turned into a fruitful smile.
As they both started to laugh their hearts out, in the silent night. Scaring many who heard them.
Parents started to scare their kids with stories about two children whose ghosts walked the streets at night.
None of this bothered Konan and Yokoji, they were simply addicted to the rush of adrenaline they got.
The poor people of the ton they were at, would soon encounter other nightly visits by them. Trying to get that rush to pump their blood again.
The sun slowly rose behind them. Making for a beautiful scene.
(AN: Hope you enjoyed the chap. Tell me if it's too short or long. And if I should be including more dialogue. However, there will be a lot more dialogue in the future, either way, it just didn't seem to fit with this chapter. Either way, leave a comment if you enjoyed and I hope you all have a good week.)
Posting chapters every day for all my readers. This is my first book and I have yet to properly watch Naruto Shipp. So I am taking many suggestions. Just post them in the comments and I'll see if I can add them if I like it. Hope you enjoyed it and have a good night. :p
