章節 6: Power
I stand there for a half second in shock before my mind catches up and screams. I jump back and try to hold down my fear, not very successfully. I knew there was probably something magical about this world, but hell is everyone stronger than me.
"What the hell was that!"
"What never seen an adventurer before kid? I may be retired but I could still mop the floor with someone like you who hasn't even gotten their falna." She speaks in a condescending tone like she's teasing a little kid. What is falna and how do I get it. Seems like its pretty common so better try to wing it and acting isn't my strong suit.
"Uh no, I lived in the boonies so never got the chance. Are they all as powerful as you." Yeah boonies for the win.
"Ha, no I'm a bit higher up there. Made it to level two before I retired if I do say so myself. helps when you get the bad types who don't want to pay the little old inn keeper or want to catch a feel if you get it." She gives me this playful smirk which makes me sweat a bit more than I probably should, but point taken. If she wanted she could have taken the Pan'ku box and hung me out to dry easier than candy from a baby. Which now that I think about it is probably how she views me a little baby with his candy box.
"Alright point taken, I guess you have a worker then Bertha." I go toward her and hand her the box.
"Great, now let me show you your room so you can get set up while I cook some dinner." She leads me to the stables which upon closer inspection is set up more like a barn with an overhead loft, stalls on either side and a big open space in the middle. Bertha goes up the stairs and points at some hay bales.
"Since your working instead of paying and I don't have extra rooms you'll hav'ta sleep here."
"But your inn's empty?"
"Ha! for now it is but we get big groups that I got to be ready for and your not paying." Well that's a pretty good reason. Makes sense why the stables are so big now. You could probably fit a couple covered wagons in here horses and all.
"Well make yourself a spot and don't rip up the bales." She goes down the ladder taking my Pan'ku box with her. Looking around I get some bales and try to make some sort of mattress out of them which works better than I thought.
"Well beds ready now for sheets or blankets." I take a moment to look for some sheets but don't see any I would trust so I guess I'll have to ask if I can borrow some. Now with a place to sit and rest I recheck my make-shift bandages and they seem to be holding up. Heck now that I get a closer look some of the smaller scars are gone. Looks like my healing got a boost as well as strength. At least now I won't have to worry about infections quite as much. Suddenly everything catches up to me.
"I'm in another world." I've been isekaied by powers unknown for reasons unknown and nearly died. Sure that goblin was weak and had the IQ of a dodo but if not for my boosts I probably would have died. My mind spirals into negativity.
'Why me? Are there stronger monsters out there? What level is normal? Why am I so much weaker than the inn keeper? Can I even get a falna? What if something goes wrong? OKAY SNAP OUT OF IT!' Slapping myself hard I refocus.
'First there is power in this world and you have a new body that's better than anything you had before. You have a tattoo that potentially has mysterious powers related to dragons. You have the Pan'ku box which can summon demons. Okay scary thought but how can you use that. Didn't they get demon essences in the third season? Let's see it was the Jackie Chan Adventures and the first season was Shendu and the talismans and...' I pause realization hitting me. I quickly strip my shirt off and look at my tattoo again. It's Shendu. I have mother fucking Shendu on my chest.
'Okay this could be either really good or really bad. For one I have a demon literaly sitting on me. On the other hand Shendu has some of the easiest to use and most versatile powers I can think of. the only problem is where are the talismans. I don't think they're scattered around the world like the series because this is not the Jackie Chan Adventures and I've never heard of falna and adventurers in that show. On the other hand if they aren't scattered around where are they, and if I put them in all the slots will Shendu be released and jump out of my chest or will he somehow take over my body. Now that I think about it the other main bad guy got possesed by Shendu in the second season and he had blond hair do I have his body, but I don't think he was ever this tough.' Well all the thinking in the world won't help me right now and I'm hungry. At the very least I have a potential source of power if I can't get a falna. One step at a time never stopped the journey and if Bertha is anything to judge by it's going to be a long one.
