He knew that since Hunter had been avoiding him for the past few days, he had to find the most opportune moment in order to "ambush" him. Therefore, he did not explicitly stop the other person when he immediately left for basketball practice after the bell rung. After all, even if he managed to stop Hunter, the latter would still use sports as an excuse to get away from him.
