"She's already asleep. Is there anything you need?"

On the other side of the phone, Mo Xiuchen's voice was low and calm, betraying no emotion. Yet thousands of miles away, Wen Jin sensed something was off and coldly questioned, "Where are you now? Even if she's asleep, her phone shouldn't be with you. Did something happen to Ranran?"

Even though they weren't blood siblings, having spent over sixteen years together, Wen Jin and Wen Ran had developed a profound bond and naturally shared an understanding and empathy.

"I came to F City after work today. I just had dinner and was about to go back to the hotel. She's been tired these days, there's nothing wrong with her sleeping. If there's nothing wrong, hang up. I don't want to wake her up. But if there's something urgent, I'll wake her up."

Mo Xiuchen lied smoothly without a hitch. Though Wen Jin had his doubts, he was miles away and his suspicions were limited to his sight; he had to take Mo Xiuchen's word for it.
