章節 13: Chapter 13
The next day I still feel awful but I still have to go to work and find out what Stark wants to talk about. So I get up and get dressed my new found allies are off doing their morning tasks so I have my den to myself to get ready for my day at work. Once I am dressed for work I grab so painkillers to make my day a little more tolerable.
When I get to Stark tower there is a fight raging in the sky. None of my coworkers are outside so I go into the building. Everyone is busy working as the battle rages outside. I walk to the elevator push the button for the IT department floor and ride the elevator up. I can hear the fight raging even through the elevator and I'm hoping that they don't hit the cables holding the elevator and moving it up and down. That would be a nightmare for that to happen.
When the elevator dings and the doors open I quickly exit onto the IT floor and to my desk. My back is starting to hurt really bad for standing for so long. I sit down and take some of the pain killers I brought with me. I sit there for a long moment trying to collect myself and let the meds work.
As I sat there the battle must have ended because Tony Stark is walking into the IT department and straight to my desk. He stops and sits in my extra chair. I smile through the pain saying "what can I do for you, Mr. Stark?" He speaks "I hear that there was a strange call recording the other day about a week before that press conference." I try to play it off "I don't know what you mean Mr. Stark." He continues " Pepper told me that I should talk to you but I'm not entirely sure why." I respond "I do not know either maybe you should ask her?" Then he nods thinking for a moment he then speaks "well I should be going I'll figure it out later." I nod and he leaves. I can't believe I forgot to delete that recorded conversation from the system. And worse Pepper might know my secret. I need to figure out what she knows and quickly so I write up an email asking to have a meeting with her. She responds quickly with it saying 'I think that might be a good idea, Ms. Stark.' Shit!
