章節 8: Chapter 7.

"Mommy! Look at this!" I said with a smile in my voice, as I showed my mom the new doll my best friend had got me. She was sat on the sofa, watching the T.V with a bowl of Doritos in it. She looked towards me, lazily.
"Do I look like I give a shit about your dolls, Y/N?" She snarled. Admittedly, she wasn't the nicest at times, but that was only when she was either drunk or watching her favourite drama series.. Which was basically all the time. We lived alone, just us two, in a small apartment.
"But, look at it! It's so cute!" I pressed on, the doll was one of them Barbie-like figures, with long black hair, red snake-like eyes, black make-up pooling from her eyes and a black and red ball gown to contrast it. It wasn't cute at all, it was creepy if anything. But I found it adorable, somehow.
"That fucking shit ain't cute, it's creepy. And not for an eight-year-old's eyes." She reached and grabbed it by the head.
"No, mommy! It's mine!" I had ahold of the body, and tugged back. Due to this tug-of-war, the head was pulled off, and I fell back, devastated. My eyes teared up, as she threw the head at me and turned her head back to the T.V.
I sobbed quietly, before I ran back outside and to the apartment opposite mine. I knocked frantically, until a boy my age opened it with a shocked expression. He hadn't seen me cry, not much anyways, and hated it everytime. He hugged me, before he pulled me inside. His raven-coloured hair was comforting and a unique colour. His yellow eyes were piercing, although filled with kindness. He'd be a great hero.
"Y/N, what happened? Was it your mom again?" He knew about the constant abuse I got from my mom, although his adoptive father was kind. He was a mafia leader, though I didn't know what that means. I nodded to his question.
"Can I stay over for a bit?" I sniffled, wiping my nose.
"Sure! My dad won't mind." He then noticed the doll's body I was still holding. "What happened to your doll?"
I just noticed his stare, and gasped. "I accidentally broke it.. I'm sorry, it was so pretty..." I sniffled again.
"It's okay!" He smiled. "I can get you another. For now, want to binge the latest show while stuffing our faces with ice-cream?" He then grinned, and I nodded hastily.
"That sounds great! Let's do it!"
