The King's original purpose was to visit the Queen to get back the token the Empress Dowager wanted. He believed that the Queen had her own ideas, so he should be present to give an explanation first. However, he had not expected that Zhao Yiqiu was seated in the yard of the Weiyang Palace the moment he walked in.

Zhao Yiqiu and he were the same age, yet decades had passed and the King had aged a great deal and looked not at all like before, whilst Zhao Yiqiu still looked young and robust.

The King was aware that Zhao Yiqiu had visited the Weiyang Palace when he returned to the capital. So he did not dig deep into this visit, since Zhao Yiqiu, Jiang Shuang and he were best friends years ago, and he allowed that they should meet after years of separation.

However, that did not necessarily mean that Zhao Yiqiu could have free access to the Queen whenever he wanted. He should be totally aware of that.
