After dawn the next day, Lynn selected twenty relatively strong half tiger warriors and had them put on the heavy armor Theresa had given him. Lynn was short on equipment before which meant that there would have been thirty fighters who were participating in the frontal charge without armor. This excluded the troops who were going to throw stones at the city. Lynn was ready for a high mortality rate for those without any armor as a head on collision with the enemy's heavy cavalry would bear many deaths.
Theresa was worried about being discovered, so she only sent twenty sets of armor. Yet, this was enough. Lynn adjusted the strategy so that the main charge would have only seventy equipped soldiers. Since they were all armored, it would significantly reduce the casualties in the battle. For the remaining thirty soldiers, half were responsible for besieging the city while the other half would flank the cavalry.
All of the nobles had risen and found a safe point high up to overlook the battlefield. Theresa's blue eyes looked in Lynn's direction as she bore witness to Lynn's army wearing heavy armor. Her lips formed a slight smile at the sight.
"My Lord, are you okay?" Asked a nobleman standing next to her.
"It is okay. I just remembered some happy thoughts."
The nobles did not understand what she meant, but they did not prod again. Sla City was ready for battle, with all of the civilians hiding in their homes. After dawn came, the heavy cavalry lined up in an ostentatious manner and exited the city gate. Once everyone left, the gate closed shut. A row of archers stood on the east wall to provide support to the troops on the land, while hidden pots of boiled oil and wood were prepared for any who came close to the wall.
"What a mighty heavy cavalry!"
"Behind them is the heavy infantry!"
"This magnificent army is worthy of a city market like Sla's. They are indeed rich enough to raise so many troops."
"In contrast, Lord Lynn's legion looks a bit shabby."
The legion of the Sla family was equipped with well made armor and had strength in numbers, in contrast to Lynn's one hundred beast warriors. In addition, thirty of them would not be participating in the frontal charge. The seventy that were in the main attack were not well equipped with a few wearing leather armor and big swords. Only some had heavy armor. What was worse was that some of the beasts' weapons were sticks.
Many nobles began to shake their heads in disappointment. In their minds, this was a battle that lacked any suspense just from the sight before them. Lynn hugged Lucy and then got onto a horse to ride off from the high point.
"What?! Lord Lynn actually wants to personally participate in the main charge?!"
"What is so surprising is that Master Lynn is a magician."
"That is true...but he has only been a magician for a short time, right? I am afraid he could not even afford a magic book. How could he participate in the charge?"
"I do not know...Maybe… I will see the results before we even finish talking."
The nobles all whispered, and many of the girls who followed to watch the battle had their eyes light up when they saw Lynn. He was clad in a magician's robe with a calm and handsome face. When he rode on a horse, he looked more heroic.
Finally, Lynn led his legion and stood at the mid point of the mountain. The other party approached Lynn in response. One of the knights was an extraordinarily tall man with an incredibly strong mount. That man stepped forward and shouted at Lynn.
"I am the knight in charge, Abboud! Lord Lynn! May I ask if the war has begun?!"
"Abboud, let me see your charge!" Lynn shouted in reply.
"The war has begun! Follow me!" yelled Abboud.
The heavy cavalry began accelerating at a slow pace, but what they lacked in speed they made up with power. Yet, the speed was slow and not flexible enough to be a threat. Even so, watching the wave of cavalry rush over was like seeing a giant beast marching to attack. It gave people a great sense of oppression. Since this was Lynn's first participation in a war, his heart was pounding. The feeling of excitement and fear mixed together and made his hands have a slight tremble.
"Charge!" Lynn commanded.
With twenty sets of heavy armor, Lynn had changed his tactics from defense to offense. If the opponent was going to attack, so would Lynn.
"Oh my God! He wants the infantry to collide with the cavalry?!"
"Even if his side has half beast warriors, this is too reckless!"
"It is impossible to win. Lord Lynn had lost the moment he challenged Sla. His territory shall be taken away."
"Not necessarily? Look carefully, these half beast warriors do not seem to be the same as before...They are so fast and powerful?!"
At the very beginning, people were unhappy about Lynn's approach to the battle. However, once the half beast soldiers began their charge they suddenly realized they were wrong. The beasts were amazingly fast! When they charged, it felt like the ground beneath them was trembling. This strength was even greater than that of the cavalry's! Lynn observed the battlefield with a calm disposition, and when the two sides were about four hundred meters away Lynn shouted at his soldiers.
"Throw it!"
The orcs on the highest point of the mountain were ready. Thirty boulders smashed directly into the opponent's cavalry camp with pinpoint speed and precision. The stones actually landed towards the back of the enemy as per Lynn's orders. He just needed to have the heavy cavalry slow down, since aiming at them would end up with friendly fire. Even before the battle had begun, Lynn's legion knew that they would launch the boulders behind the enemy line.
The forward unit's speed was unabated even though they had thoughts that the boulders might hit them. As long as Lynn ordered them, they would not hesitate to rush headfirst into the enemy as they were loyal to a fault. They must absolutely obey him!
The heavy cavalry watched as the boulders landed and instinctively began to slow down. The difference in speed between the two forces widened to an even further extent. In the end, the half beast warriors rushed into the enemy's camp with a greater speed.
A loud impact could be heard as a half beast used his sword to attack a horse. The heavy cavalry was knocked to the ground while the warrior was bleeding from his hand. He was injured, but it was obvious that the warrior had the upper hand in this confrontation.
In almost an instant, the battle changed to the unthinkable for the nobles. With the aid of the boulders, the cavalry's camp was broken up by the opposing infantry! What half beast warriors were these? Did Lynn raise a batch of monsters? Their impact was terrifying! Meanwhile, Sla was observing the battle from high up on the wall and was enjoying a glass of wine trying to show off his relaxed manner as he watched the battle. However, he dropped his glass out of shock when he witnessed the battle prowess of Lynn's legion.
