David clears his throat and gains Doris's attention. "So... Is everything fine at home?" David asks, fiddling with the spoon in his hand as he looks at Doris, expectantly to initiate a conversation. Gabrielle was out of the room and has left for the common room. 

"Yes, of course. Everything's good. Why asking?" Doris replies after biting onto the spoon. 

"No... I was wondering if... You were... feeling alone?" He speaks while taking pauses and racking his brain to lead the conversation into the right path though he was failing at it.
