Lesion had made the choice to leave and marry Dreadtooth's daughter at such a young age, and he knew that he didn't want to. But he was doing it for his father and brother, which gave hint to what kind of adult he would grow up to be.
By growing up many would see the difference between each other. Bloodmaw could see it just by looking at his two sons. They were going to be so different yet they would be strong. He could rest easy knowing that both of his sons will prosper and flourish when he leaves them.
It was sad, death was.
Not being able to stay alive long enough to see what kind of adults your children would grow up to be. Bloodmaw was not going to die without a fight, but he wanted to see them older. He hoped that time would give that for him.
Bloodmaw looked at Lesion and Jr as he smiled, he nuzzled the youngsters carefully before lifting his head up. "I have no words to express my feelings for you both."
Lesion smiled but blinked as Gambit cautiously walked over. Jr looked at the bite on his brothers nose and he spoke apologetically, "Sorry for biting you."
Lesion looked at his brother with wide eyes before grinning. "It's okay!"
Bloodmaw looked up as he looked around, the valley looked stable enough for his clan to thrive. He looked at Gambit as he smirked. "Take care of him okay."
Gambit nodded as he carefully looked at the bite, while he did this did Bloodmaw walk off to further expand the camp.
Swiftscale looked at Ebony with a smile, Ebony on the other hand smiled back. Both of them watched Bloodmaw talk to his sons from afar. They were glad that the talk went well.
Adder seemed to be watching Grim closely, he shifted his gaze to Helm and Dingo. The both of them were working hard and so he decided to help out.
"Guys need any help?", asked Adder walking toward them.
Helm smiled, "Sure, we don't mind!"
Dingo laughed loudly, "Aye!"
Grim snorted as he continued to work.
Bloodmaw approached them and he smirked at Adder, "You don't have to?"
Adder looked at him with a adamant expression, "I know but if this is going to be our home I gotta help out."
Bloodmaw chuckled, "Fair enough."
Harmony was continuing to converse with Nina, before to long the both of them would become good friends. Lockjaw had gotten up and walked off somewhere, he probably went out to scare off more blind beasts in the area.
It was starting to look like a functioning clan, though there was a leader. It was not fully on the leader to make decisions. A good leader was nothing without those who follow him.
Ruby giggled watching the youngsters talk to one another while Gambit patches up the wound on Lesions nose.
Devastate's wounds were healing up, so listening to Belle was not completely a bad idea. She said to rest and he did, though he wanted to work. He was not going to prove himself to everyone if he just lays around all day.
Speaking of Belle, she was up and was looking at the herbs that Gambit had gathered. She looks over each one trying to memorize what each look like. By remembering what they look like, she could find them in serious times.
Gambit finished mending the bite wound. "You are all good."
Lesion smiled at him in gratitude, "Thanks!"
Jr nodded to Gambit with a smile. "Yeah!"
Gambit smiled at them as he turned away to where Belle was, he narrowed his eyes at Devastate still angry at him for stomping him.
Belle looked at Gambit and she smiled, Gambit nodded to her as he looked at the herbs.
Gambit was good at herbs only cause he wanted to be helpful to others. He worked so hard to learn how. Gambit learned from his ways, and he wanted to better himself.
No more would he use others, he knew that it was not all about him.
Gambit looked at Belle who seemed to be working hard, she was different from most raptors. She was a beautiful white color, and she just had a calming vibe about her.
This was the first time Gambit saw a solid white raptor before, he had to assume that one of her parents were the same color. That or she had a color mutation?
Gambit glanced over at Nina and Harmony, his eyes looked at her ankles. Nina was shorter than most acrocanthosaurus that he knew of, she must of broken both ankles sometime ago.
Being large was hard, only cause if you break a leg or two you would be vulnerable to attack. Gambit was curious about if her ankles hurt or not?
He may as well take the herbalist title. So he approached Nina and Harmony.
"Excuse me?", asked Gambit looking at Nina.
"Hm?", replied Nina as she looked down at Gambit.
"How does your ankles feel? I can't help but notice that the both of them look somewhat different?", asked Gambit.
Nina looked at her ankles and Harmony looked as well, "Oh, I did break them sometime ago but I didn't properly mend them so they healed like that."
Gambit looked surprised. How could she not try to mend them unless she couldn't or didn't know how? Furthermore, didn't they hurt her now?
"I am sorry to hear that. Do they hurt when you walk on them?", asked Gambit.
Nina shook her head, "No."
Harmony looked at her with a smile, "Well if they don't hurt I guess there isn't anything you can do?"
Nina smiled at Harmony, "It is okay. I am use to it and being short."
Gambit stared at Nina for a while, she was so optimistic about it. Others wouldn't be so optimistic about it. Gambit sort of smiled at her, his heart was pounding fast for some reason? "Nothing wrong with being short!"
Harmony giggled softly while Nina looked at Gambit curiously, she tilted her head at him. "I guess but I am taller than you."
Gambit fumbled with his words, "O-oh Yeah! You are, but like don't let others give you a hard time! You are beautiful the way you are!"
Harmony blinked and she looked at Nina with a smile, Nina blinked with wide eyes. "Uh..?"
Gambit realizing what he said blinked and nervously laughed, "Oh oops!?! Did I say that?"
Harmony looked at Nina as she laughed, Nina looked at her as she laughed in reply. Gambit watched as Nina laughed and he some what walked away. "Excuse me haha!"
The raptor quickly turned and ran back to where Belle and the herbs were. What on earth did he say!?!
Why did he say that!
Gambit made a fool of himself but like he had never felt like that before. He looked over his shoulder at Nina and Harmony, they were still laughing about what he had said. It was embarrassing.
The words just slipped out, he just said that to her out loud even!
Belle looked at Gambit and she blinked confused, Gambit had his head down over both of his arms. He looked like he had embarrassed himself.
"You okay?", asked Belle.
"Yeah.", mumbled Gambit in reply.
Belle sort of laughed at him as she continued to look through the herbs.
Gambit grumbled under his breath.
The day slowly continued on without anything to hold it back, days and nights always come and go with no restraints. The camp was so much larger now, with walls of bones creating boundaries.
Bloodmaw has saved some bones to be used as armor, which he was going to let Harmony, Lockjaw, Adder, Ruby and Nina use. They of course didn't have to wear armor if they didn't want to.
Lockjaw was against wearing bones, which was okay. Harmony decided to wear some armor, she just wore armor on her back and chest. Nothing to fancy.
Ruby smiled at the offer of bones, she also showed Bloodmaw that she knew how to make paint. She learned how to make paint out of interest, seeing she liked to look at pretty things. Her armor was rather light but it covered her body from head to tail.
Nina was against wearing armor, only cause it was uncomfortable for her to wear.
Adder said he would wear armor but he wanted to earn it, to him he felt like he didn't deserve it yet since he had just joined.
That was fine, Bloodmaw wouldn't forced them to wear armor. It just helped sometimes to have armor, since it could minimize the damage that you would receive in combat.
Using everything was the key in survival.
The food situation was good and so was the water, if it all goes well they wouldn't have to worry. Sure, blind beasts were a problem but they could be dealt with. As long as they were together, they had nothing to fear.
The evening brought the call of the crickets, it won't be long until they start hearing the ghostly calls of the blind.
Swiftscale was teaching Jr and Lesion, about tracking. He of course had Scarface help with that since he was a excellent tracker. Both youngsters listened to Scarface with interest which made the baryoynx happy.
Swiftscale blinked when he heard all to familiar snort, looking over he saw Grim looking at him. Just by seeing Grim, he felt his heart sink.
Swiftscale looked to Ebony who was talking to Helm, he sighed as he approached Grim ready for anything.
But he wasn't expecting Grim to speak.
"I have been told that Ebony likes you.", spoke Grim coldly.
Swiftscale froze with a flushed face, "H-Huh!?!"
Grim snorted looking away, his head was down.
Swiftscale looked at Grim and he couldn't help but frown, he was glad to hear that but he felt bad for the brute. Sure, Grim was tough and mean but he meant well. He wanted what was best for Ebony so he couldn't be all bad right?
"Look I don't hate you or nothing?", spoke Swiftscale looking at Grim. "I mean you want what is best for Ebony so..."
Grim looked at him with narrowed eyes before saying, "I do."
Swiftscale looked down but looked up as Grim continued.
"I am a warrior, a fighter, and I know I could protect her from anything but she doesn't see me like that. I know that she likes you cause I have been told it. I don't want to let her go but she wouldn't be happy with me." , Grim was looking down as he spoke. The brute had something much more painful than any wound, a broken heart.
Swiftscale fidgeted with his claws, he looked at Grim as he said. "I wanna make her happy and I don't want to make you a enemy or rival."
Grim snorted closing his eyes, "You better make her happy."
Swiftscale nodded, "I will. I can make that promise to you."
Grim looked away as he turned walking, his massive frame walked toward Bloodmaw.
Swiftscale watched him leave, his heart was pounding hard in his chest. Did that really happen?
The baryoynx looked at Bloodmaw in curiosity, and he guessed that Bloodmaw told Grim to step down. That or Grim made the decision on his own. He didn't know?
Swiftscale looked toward Ebony and he smiled, he would tell her his feelings one day. He would give her time of course since she had lost her mate.
He would keep the promise to Grim, the last thing he wanted was for the rex to come after him and kill him.
Swiftscale walked toward Scarface and the youngsters with a smile, he felt some what light on his feet.
Lesion smiled at Scarface, "I like tracking!"
Scarface chuckled at him, "Remember tracking can be useful if you are in a tricky spot."
Jr nodded having taking all of his words seriously.
Swiftscale smiled at Scarface, "You think they will be good hunters?"
Scarface nodded, "Totally."
As nighttime approaches, the clan could rest easy for the next day.
However, rest was something everyone wants and not many would get it. Bad things seem to always happen, even toward those who were kind and forgiving. To those always kind, the worst thing possible can happen to them. While to those who were greedy, karma sure had a way of showing its ugly head.
The heavy sound of footsteps were muffled but loud, the sharp noise of crickets chirping made her ears ring. Cripple slowly opened her eyes, and as she slowly looked around did she discover she was in a dark room.
Cripple couldn't see anything in front of her face. Where was she!?!
The clan of Bloodmaw has gotten stronger with more members joining within their ranks! As things are going well for them, Cripple is going through a hard time. How will things go for her? See you in the next chapter! ^^
