[Kitsu Pov]
As I glanced up at the commentators' booth, where Kayda and another guy were sitting, I muttered, "Guess commentators are still a thing here."
"Alright, ladies and gentlemen, please give a round of applause to the first group!" Kayda exclaimed, opening up the competition.
"Hmm, I wonder if killing anyone will disqualify you," I said, looking around to see if there were any strong people in my group.
"Let's get into the rules first. Rule number 1: We will not tolerate spells that pose a risk to spectators; rule number 2: Killing is permitted. Good luck, people." The commentator began with a serious tone before transitioning to a playful one.
'Hmm, I guess that answers my question, but I thought only those under the age of 16 could join this tournament. Was it changed?' I pondered, surveying my "competition."
"All of them are kids?" I muttered out loud, confused.
"Of course, only children will participate. This tournament is exclusively for those under the age of 16." The guy closest to me spoke.
"Then why do we have the right to kill people?" I posed this question, tilting my head towards the man.
"Terrified you'll kick the bucket, huh?"
"Pfft, nah, that makes it way funnier," I said, grinning at the guy.
"Don't listen to him. No one will actually die. There is a special barrier around the stadium to keep everyone from dying." A girl to my left explained, I looked over my shoulder and saw a loli standing there, dressed in a witch's outfit, looking up at me with pride.
"Alright, so I can go ham." I said I was creating two chakrams in my hand with no special blade, just a circle with sharp sides and a cross handle in the middle to sort out the weight.
"Alright, ladies and gentlemen, let's get this show on the road." After the commentator's announcement, bells started going off, marking the start of the battle.
"Get the fox first!!" The guy to my right yelled, pointing at me.
"Good decision, but you guys are way too weak," I boasted, glancing at him as I hurled one of the chakras at him, all the while keeping my gaze fixed on the small witch, following the direction her mana was going.
"Sorry, Senpai, but you are too strong."
"Thank you, and by the way, you are older than me." I said this while pretending to appear behind her and chop off her head.
'Not a terrible spell, but it's slow.' I pondered as I watched the massive fireball plummet from the sky. Even though I had 'killed' the small witch, the spell remained active.
"Kill her now!!" Someone yelled out and leaped at me from behind with a few of his friends, but I ended up with only my tail severed.
"Now, where are those angels?" I muttered, recalling seeing angel wings enter the arena.
"What is this?" Just before my swinging tail smashed them to pieces, someone muttered.
I estimate that there are approximately 2500 children in Group 1. Even running around and getting wild will take time. However, if I proceed in that manner, I will be able to easily locate those angels.
As I defended and counterattacked anyone who targeted me, I pondered, scanning my surroundings.
"Hey brother, can't we kill this disgusting thing first?" A young female voice spoke from above me.
"It seems that they came to me." I looked up at the two angels flying low to the ground above me.
"I agree, sister; she looks and smells fowl," said the person next to her in the air.
I grinned at the two and said, "I suppose the sentiments are reciprocal; you two emanate arrogance."
"And you're not arrogant?" Behind me, a deep voice emerged, breaking through the crowd towards us.
"I suppose so, but I have the ability to support my pride." I rebuked him, grinning at the big guy.
"We will see about that, brother and sister." The guy said he was looking at the two angels.
"3 on 1, it's still a bit unfair, but it will be more intriguing this way." I said, looking at their levels.
"Older brother, I think she thinks she has a chance to win against us." The brother in the air was laughing at me.
'I think I can actually inspect them.'
Name: Older brother
Level 287
Class: Unknown?
"Your real name is older brother." I made that statement because I didn't anticipate that someone would truly go by that name.
"I see, so you can analyse us; good, it seems Azales artefacts work." The older brother muttered, nodding in approval.
"Levels 276 and 198. Man, you guys are overly protective of your sister." I commented this while looking at the girl, who was almost 100 levels lower than them.
'This might actually be a problem if they have good classes, but then again, they are angels; they only take holy classes. Being a Palidin presents significant challenges. It's likely that only priests or holy men are considered Palidins. Rare classes at most.' I thought about what their power might be.
"You have quite the confidence, even though we are five times your level." The older brother said it with a raised eyebrow.
"Indeed, I don't find levels particularly significant." I mentioned. After 6 days of constant fighting with Marquas Anabald, I can now make demi god-long swords on command, but sadly, only those.
"What are those?" The older brother said he was narrowing his eyes at my weapons.
"Ice weapons, of course. Do you want to take a closer look?" With a sarcastic expression, I threw my sword in my left hand towards him.
"Shit!" The older brother jumped back, creating a shield out of holy magic.
"Sorry, but you have to go first." I muttered, jumping back towards the sister.
"No, you don't." The brother claimed as he was jumping in between us.
"Heh." I disappeared in front of him and reappeared behind the sister, grinning.
Sling!
"Khaaaa!!" Screaming in pain, the sister fell to the ground with her wings following behind her, grabbing her back.
"Oops, I missed." I laughed, kicking her wings out of the way.
"You monster." The girl muttered in pain, glaring at me.
"Oh, thank you." I replied, swinging my sword again, sending out an arc of ice, and cutting off her head.
"They said that the barrier won't cause any deaths, but how does that actually work?" As I looked up, I couldn't see any barriers.
"You dare junior !!" The elder brother exclaimed, "You dare!"
(Editor's Note: courting death)
"Why are you so mad? Is it about severing her wings or 'killing her'?" I swung my sword at the guy, severing him in half.
"Wait what? You guys can't be that weak." The ease with which my sword cut through his holy armour and blade astounded me.
"Older brother!!"
"Nope, you guys are?" I observed the brother's reaction to the blow.
"I suppose levels are of little significance; the girl was the most powerful of all of them, as she nearly evaded me." I looked at the girl's body to analyse it.
"Well, it doesn't matter now to find that other thing." Shrugging, I stomped on the ground, freezing the entire arena, hoping to kill everyone in my group.
Unsurprisingly, multiple angels leapt into the air to dodge the ice, but sadly for them, the ice kept following them. At the end, there were only a few angels left. Unsurprisingly, no humans or demi-humans survived.
"Ah, so you really are here." In the group of angels, I said I saw someone I knew.
Beeb!!!
"And the first group battled royal to a conclusion. Congratulations to you guys."
"Well then, ladies and gentlemen. It was quite a boring fight, as one person killed everyone. Well, that's alright, because tomorrow the second group will be fighting!" The commentator yelled energetically.
"Hmm, the barrier reverses time? Well, guess I need to bounce."
"Kitsuna, how have you been?" Rachel asked
"A warning to you. Leave before you get yourself killed." I said, looking at her defence.
"Sorry, Kitsuna, I can't do that. The god of light gave me a second chance in life." Rachel said, smiling warmly at me.
"I am fairly certain that I did that—not that fucktard, whatever." I shivered as she smiled during our discussion.
"I gave my warning." I replied, shrugging.
"Don't worry, Kitsuna, I will save you from them." Rachel muttered something. I don't think she thought I would be here.
"Hahaha, from who?" I laughed mentally as I walked out of the room.
