The people in the five clans have their role in the world. An ancestor from the Basilisk clan almost has a chance of becoming a god but a single mistake from that person made them lose the chance and status. And they were stamped as demons but it took them centuries to remove that stamp. 

The other clan, second in power is the Kshatra clan, one can say they were equal standing in Basilisk. Just that they can't do magic. 

This clan started with a warrior who fought in the war of gods and demons. God blessed him with fortune. He started a family and created many great warriors and gave them to gods. Since it's started by warrior Kshatra his descendants made his name as their clan name. Till now they still make warriors. Those warriors would protect the earth from having trespassers. They were the first in line to take down the beasts. If they can't take them down Basilisk's will come and take care of them.
