This was a belt of asteroids. At a glance, numerous stellar objects were suspended densely in space.
Some were as large as a planet, spanning across thousands of kilometers, some were as tiny as a speck of dust, the size of a grain of rice, like a belt of broken stones.
From a distance, they were all gathered together densely, seemingly in close proximity, but only when they got closer did they realize that there were still a significant distance between one another.
The closest were hundreds of kilometers apart, the furthest were millions of kilometers away, but it was undeniable that the asteroids were aplenty.
Morever, unlike the asteroid belts of the solar system, they did not revolve around the sun, but were still suspended in space. Aside from some asteroids moving by themselves, most of them were in a dormant, still state.
Most of all, they were independent of one another, and were isolated. So, that made devouring all the more easier.
