"You're right." Pearl said as she took off her earrings.
"You say that a lot these days." Dylan said with a smile. He pulled her close to him and kissed her.
"God you're such a gloat." She said, swatting at him.
"Have I ever told you how much I love you?" Dylan said, looking into her eyes.
"A couple of times. Maybe." Pearl said, stepping out of her dress. Dylan grabbed her by the hips and pulled her down onto the bed.
"My wife. My life. Always you. It was always you." He said, kissing her.
They made love, and Pearl nestled into his arms after, as he ran his hands through her hair.
"He loves her. And he wouldn't just give that love away if he didn't feel it in his entire being." Dylan said. "He is your son. Remember that."
"I know." Pearl said, closing her eyes tightly. "I just want to protect him. I went through so much. We went through so much." She said, tears falling down her cheek.
"But you made it through and now he has the life you wanted for him. He is safe. His life is good. We are all good. Why not let him have this. Have this love, this life that he truly wants?" Dylan asked.
Pearl sighed. He was right. She knew it.
"I will talk to him tomorrow." She said.
"Good." Dylan said, kissing her cheek and curling up behind her after shutting off the light.

"Christian, can we talk?" Pearl said, entering his study.
"I don't have time. I have a meeting in fifteen minutes and then I am meeting Nora for lunch." He said without looking up.
"Alright. Well then. Give her my best. And let her know that Isla and I would love to come along when she goes dress shopping." Pearl said. Christian looked up, obvious confusion and surprise on his face.
"I'm sorry mother, what did you say?" Christian said.
"You have my blessing. And I know you would have your father's as well. I can't wait to get to know her better. I apologize for my initial reaction. You know I only want the best for you. Anyway, carry on." Pearl said with a smile and left. Christian nearly had to pick up his jaw before heading to his meeting.

"Yes. She came in and said that. All of it. I nearly fell over on the floor. Completely collapsed." Christian said to Nora, who was equally shocked.
"It's like what we said at dinner made a difference. Like she actually listened to us." Nora said, smiling.
"Right?" Christian said. They shared a moment of silence. Nora looked up to see a big smile on Christian's face.
"What? What is it?" She asked, smiling back.
"I can actually celebrate this now. I can be fully happy. It's really happening and we can both enjoy it fully. I can't believe it." He said.
She nodded. "I guess you're right." She said.
"I love you." He said.
"I love you back." She said with a big smile.
