(Earlier today)
'Shit, shit shit!' Flav was running across the open grounds of the Academy as he headed to his classroom building.
He had a piece of toast in his mouth as he frantically jumped through insignificant obstacles that got in his way.
'Li! Why didn't you wake me up!!' Flav cursed silently at Li because he was late to his class right now.
The worst part about it was that it was with Carter, his examiner from before he was enrolled, and though he seemed easy to talk to, he was quite strict and punishing as a teacher for latecomers and students who disobey the rules in his class.
Flav was late once to his class during one of his first days, and he regretted it ever since. Though he was only 5 minutes late, he had to stand outside the classroom with large buckets of this silver liquid that weighed a ton.
He was surprised himself that he struggled with two buckets of this liquid but ever since; he was always diligent because not only were they heavy and he had to carry it for the rest of the day, his whole body ached afterwards and he got behind in their practical classes, making the others look down on him.
Of course, once he recovered, he quickly showed them he wasn't any less than them, but it still damaged his reputation, not that he cared.
He entered a large, dark blue building and ran to his class at full speed.
*Diiiiing*
The bell sounded and Carter was about to shut his door, to signify any students afterwards will be late, but as he did, a figure flew past him.
"Wow, Flav, I'm glad you could join us. Though, aren't you cutting it close?" Carter joked as he shut the door.
The other five students giggled and gave a clap to Flav
"Wow, amazing Flav."
"Must have been tough, huh?"
"Overslept again?"
"Kyaaaa~"
"…"
The five students gave their own joking remarks to Flav.
To follow the mood, Flav gave a bow "Thank you, thank you." He mumbled with toast in his mouth.
*Boink*
A book slammed on Flav's head, making him wince.
"If you're going to be funny, at least eat your breakfast properly." Carter chuckled as he sent Flav to his seat.
Flav pulled up his chair and paid attention.
"Right class, I hope you practised the sky sparrow sword technique from three days ago. We will go to the practice room and you'll show me. Questions?"
A tall, muscular man raised his hand "Will there be a punishment for those that didn't practice well enough?" Though the man directed the question to Carter, he looked at Flav with a snicker.
'Urgh.' Flav could feel his stares and just ignored him.
"Of course," Flav answered simply with a smile.
He ordered the students to follow him and they moved the practice room.
Each student was handed a wooden sword, and they were given thirty minutes to warm up before Carter would check on their technique.
The students separated in their own little zones and practiced.
Flav looked at his sword 'Urgh, so ineffective…' he silently worked on his technique.
…
The students showed off their understanding of the sky sparrow sword technique to Carter, with four of them deemed passable. One was deemed outstanding and Carter complimented him to no end, while one student did not meet the expected requirement.
Yes, the one student that failed was Flav and the students either laughed or felt sorry for him. It was notorious in the diamond class that Flav was either amazing at a certain lesson or completely trash.
Sword techniques were one of the things he was just horrible at learning and would fall behind the others.
"Flav, you know what this means, right? Come see me after class," Carter simply said and dismissed the students.
As diamond students, they didn't always have classes and were expected to focus on their own cultivation with the facilities provided or practice any homework during the time between their next lesson.
One day could only have one lesson and the rest were free, or a day could have multiple lessons that were spaced out.
The diamond class students made their way back to their classrooms to collect their things, and as Flav grabbed his blazer from the classroom, he heard someone laugh.
"Haha, amazing Flav. Not only were you nearly late, but your sky sparrow sword technique was also horrible! Did you even practice?" The large built man mocked.
Flav sighed "Dulec, don't you have anything better to do? Fuck off." Flav stuck his middle finger up and was about to leave when he saw a transparent figure walk in.
"Flav, you finished? Wanna grab an early lunch?" Joanna was the one that stood outside their door.
'Her again…' Flav sighed "Sure".
'Li probably has class and Iris…heh..probably swarmed by her fan club…' Flav thought as he was about to walk over to Joanna.
"Oh, look who it is! The ghost! Shouldn't you be dead? Came to haunt us now haha" Deluc couldn't help himself as he mocked Joanna.
Joanna looked downwards
"Oh? Is the ghost feeling sad? You're already dead, what's there to be sad about now? Hahaha" Deluc was relentless.
"Hey ghost, are you even able to feel anything down there!? Ah-" Before Dulec could laugh, he felt a slight cut by the side of his neck with Flav's hand near it.
Before Deluc could grab Flav's hand, he backed away "Shut your mouth," Flav said with a disdained look.
"You wanna go?" Deluc straightened his back as he stared down at Flav.
The other students crowded round, giving their disapproval.
"You shouldn't do this guys…"
"Kyaa~ Stop it guysss~"
Deluc tried to tackle Flav, but he sidestepped out the way.
Before Deluc could stabilise his balance, Flav chopped him by the neck, forcing him to pass out.
'So many openings…' Flav though disappointedly, he realized Deluc had little fighting experience
"Let's go." Flav walked out of the room with Joanna as the others looked at Deluc with pity.
