Rukiya looked at Hawi, the disbelief on her face heartbreaking, as she tried to comprehend the time that they had been together and the day that Hawi had been banished from Sicario. 

It felt like a gut punch, not being able to know what was going on. Maybe they had just been mates, but to suffer for so long alone, Ruru knew it had to have affected Hawi. For the first time, since they crossed over to the island, Ruru wasn't sure what to say. 

Her mouth kept opening and closing but no words were coming out. Hawi was tempted to make a joke about this but she couldn't do that this time, not when her mother was already gone. 

"You're ready, Hawi," Malika said when she realized that Ruru was still at a loss for words. For normal people, Hawi was in a critical state and seems to be headed for the ground already. Perhaps that was why Ruru wasn't sure what she needed to say.
