The ozone was thickening. The crackle of the electricity flashed through the sky as lightning forked somewhere above me. There was every indication that it was about to start storming. Aside from the darkness of the clouds and the scent of the rain. It was just the static charged ozone, the lightning, and the thunder that rumbled.
Still, I didn't dare to look up at the sky. I didn't want to take my eyes off of Orson for fear that he would be angered at the movement. He might take my looking up at the sky as me not taking him seriously enough. He might give the order to start firing if he so much as thought that I was disrespecting him again. And I couldn't let that happen. Not until I was sure that I could handle the situation.
"What is that?" I heard one of the humans behind me call out. They had apparently been looking at the sky, but it still wasn't enough to make me look away from Orson.
