章節 3: The Great Escape

Two weeks ago, Unidentified Dungeon.

Violet found herself sprawled on the cold ground dazed and weak. Her shirt drenched with sweat, stuck to her skin. The jeans she was wearing were torn in some places.

Her long platinum blonde hair covered her face like a curtain, and she opened her heavy eyes. Instantly, she felt a sharp pain surge through her head when her eyes started to focus. She felt like she had been hit by a truck and was unfortunate enough to live through it. Hell, she felt pathetic, nauseous, but mostly she felt confused. Where was she? Why was she there? What happened. All these questions ran to her muddled mind.

The platinum blonde tried her best to think where she could be, it was dark, and little light entered wherever she was in. She tried to focus, breathing steadily, trying to relax despite emotions bombarding her all at the same time. Fear on top of them, fear that she was back 'there.'

Violet took note of the dirt before her, the moist earth where her face was pressed against. And the feel of the cold walls against her exposed skin when she moved to sit. She gazed upon the moss-covered cobblestone walls, and she realized she was probably somewhere really old, most likely abandoned. And from the chill, in the air, she could tell it was night.

She concentrated her hearing by closing her eyes, and she could hear people… Yes, people, calling out; most in pain and very afraid--something she could relate to.

She peeled her eyes open and focused, looking around the dimly lit room and noticed that she was inside a cell. Dungeon, she corrected herself. Steel bars surrounded her.

Violet moved, raising her hand to touch it, but the second her skin made contact with the cold bars, she pulled back immediately.

She looked at her hand, burnt, but her body was slowly healing itself. The metal bars were covered with Wolfsbane--one of their weaknesses.

The platinum blond breathed in the musty air, and she tensed in realization. There were more with her than she initially thought, and they were Werewolves like her. She can smell them, trapped in prison, and she does not know why.

She leaned back against the wall, resting, trying to regain her strength. She tried to recall her time before she opened her eyes, and she remembered being in a bar. Bar, where werewolves such as her like to drink and kill some time in peace. No one to judge or police them in their natural rowdiness.

Moments later she couldn't help her mind start to wander; it was just a year ago when the vampire known as the 'Abomination', broke Luna's curse—enabling their kind to change and control their transformation whenever they pleased. They no longer were under the mercy of the moon.

'What are you doing? Concentrate! Save your strength' The voice inside her snapped her back to reality. It wasn't time to daydream; she can't afford to waste time with senseless things. And so, she closed her eyes shut summoning some strength from nature. Willing herself to recover, She refused to stay there, she refused to be captured. She will escape; she kept telling herself.

"Hey! Are you awake?" a man across her cell called, his voice thick and husky. The man knelt as close as he could to the wolfbane covered cell.

"Yes," she answered, opening her eyes and looking at the man. "Where are we? What are we doing here?" she asked him, struggling with her words.

"The Abomination. He plans to turn us into hybrids like himself." the man said, disgust clear on his tone. Every race hiding in the shadows hated mixed-bloods or simply Mix, all due to the prophecy the Oracle had foretold before her death more than a Millennia ago. A prophecy that stated that a mixed-blood would destroy the balance of the world. And so, every race that lived among mortal men like; Wolves, Vampires, and so on, especially witches, had made it their mission to eliminate Mix. From their very birth, they are slain as to avoid the prophecy from happening.

"Why?" Violet asked. "He plans to create an army of hybrids and be its King." the man claimed.

'Wolfsbane,' the voice inside her whispered, that's why she was weak, someone must've dosed them with Wolfsbane. As time passed, her mind started to clear; she can now recall that a group of werewolves... No, a group of hybrid vampire/werewolf kidnapped them and brought them to that hell hole.

Violet's youthful face creased in annoyance. She just wanted some fresh air, that's why she left the safety of her apartment in New York and where did that lead her?

To a dungeon.

Hours passed, and she started to regain some of her strength back, but she knew she still needed more time, and most of all, she needed a plan. She can't just blindly make her move.

She had to be smart.

More hours passed, Violet's senses were returning to normal; she could now hear footsteps approaching from a distance away, and there were two of them. And based on the smell, she could tell they were hybrids.

The main gate rustled, as the two hybrids opened and closed the steel gates. Their steps echoed through the underground prison, and they pulled a random man from one of the cells. The weak man struggled, attempting to fight back, but he was too weak. They simply dragged him out of his cell and took him out of the dungeon.

Violet's eyes focused on the man in the opposite cell, "What's your name?" she asked. "Jack Harris," he answered, confused. There was no need for her to know his name; they were all going to be 'reborn' anyway. And they needed to die for it.

He won't be Jack Harris for long.

Violet bent her knees towards her chest, making herself comfortable, "Well, Jack, I need your help if you want to leave this place alive," she said. His eyes widened in surprise at her statement. However, the confidence in her voice was enough to pique his interest.

"Child, are you crazy? The cells are covered with Wolfsbane. We can't destroy It. We can barely touch it," a woman beside caged in the cell beside hers commented.

Violet turned to look at the woman, sitting on the floor, weak. The corner's of her lips curved up, "Who said anything about touching the cell?" Violet asked.

She cracked her neck and took a deep breath, propping her elbow on her knee.

"These cells are going to open, all by themselves," she claimed, catching everyone near's attention. "All I need from you is to pass the message." the platinum blonde said.

"What message?" Jack asked.

"Run. Run for your lives." Violet said.
