He has a ton of scientists and dungeon researchers that follow his blog. Ptorimea made an online forum for career counseling. With her bountiful knowledge of skills, she tries to guide people to occupations that are better suited to them. Coincidentally all her advice leads people away from dungeon-delving but few people notice. The list goes on and on but I don't want to bore you.>

I open the book in my hand and lean back into the cushioned chair. This book is not like the previous one. Instead of recounting the personal experiences of the author, it describes a series of medical procedures applicable in the field.
It covers a wide expanse ranging from how to best get a bullet out of the body to how to extract a barbed arrow or pieces of a magical spell while causing the least damage. It even touches on a few techniques that are usually seen as controversial like how to drain toxins from the bloodstream or remove cursed marks.
I understand a lot more than I believed I would thanks to the detailed schematics provided. Being a senior carrier for a few years I learned an astonishing amount about human anatomy. I just don't know most official names for the individual parts which is why the schematics are so helpful to me. Having a nicely labeled schematic should be a must for any book.

I spend two hours reading about halfway through that book before putting it down and losing my eyes. I go through all the things I just read in my mind. Repeating the motions while imagining my own hands being the ones performing the cuts is one of the best ways to learn physical skills in my opinion.
The body may not be moving but the mind develops the necessary neurons to complete such actions. Sure, regular practice might lead to better results but I don't feel like cutting into a screaming human today.
After about twenty minutes of mentally going through what I've learned, I hear my daughters exit the wellness section. Took them long enough!
I open my eyes and sit up. I quickly check my status and find that both my dismantling as well as my field surgery skill have leveled up.
Dismantling has reached level six meaning I am standing at the threshold of becoming an advanced carrier. Though the step to reach that next level will not be an easy one.
Field surgery is even more insane. My skill has grown by two full levels reaching level three. With this level of skill, I should be capable of teaching after getting some more practical experience.
However, I feel like there is a wall blocking me from further advancing that skill unless I do something...
<I thought you'd hit it sooner. What you are missing are the other capabilities a surgeon must have. All the books I prepared for you until now only concerned the aspect of cutting. You will also need to know about suturing, correcting fractures, eliminating blockages, and so on. I'd also suggest learning how to diagnose patients and how to temporarily stabilize them. The latter won't do you much good in the dungeon but it will help with teaching.>
Sounds like a pain.
I stand up and walk over to where Quinn is pestering Libra for her phone number while Cassidy is just standing there in a daze.
Does Libra even have a phone?
<Of course she does! It's just that she has no reception while in the dungeon so contacting her is nigh impossible.>
"I promise I won't bug you too much!"
"As I said, dear. Exchanging numbers is not the problem but it won't do you any good. I barely ever have the time to look at my phone."
"I can understand. But still, maybe I'll be lucky and you'll have time right when I call."
"I see. Then if fate wills it, we shall speak at length about whatever you desire."
Libra hands a business card to Quinn before turning to Cassidy and patting her head.
"Do not think too much. You are young and will find many answers in time. There is such a thing as thinking too much. Though not for that one."
She throws another glance at Quinn who is busy entering the number from the business card into her phone. Then Libra nods towards me and leaves the building with steady confident steps.
"Daddy?"
"Yes, Cassidy?"
"Am I stupid?"
"Why?"
"I didn't understand half the things Quinn and lady Libra talked about. And even the half that I think I understood still confuses me."
I cup her head with my hands and look deep into her eyes.
"You aren't stupid, Cassidy. Quinn and lady Libra are simply way out of every normal person's league. I don't think I would have understood any more than you if I listened to their conversation and you don't think I am stupid, do you?"
"No, you aren't."
The somewhat depressed and confused look vanishes from Cassidy's face and is replaced by a beaming smile.
"I'm hungry! Can we eat here?"
I look at the time and see that we are way past lunchtime so of course, the girls would be hungry. But eating here is a little...
"Why don't you come over to my place? I can cook something for you and show you my garden."
