章節 26: Fighting the armor golem
<The mage who entered probably specializes in golemancy.>
Gole- what now?
<Sigh, golemancy, the study and creation of golems. Golems are usually barely sentient beings made from any unthinkable material. Try to find its core or you'll have a hard time destroying it.>
So the armor is a golem? Well, that explains why the armor is so heavy and impractical. But... What about all the other shield-bearers?
<All the armors have started moving and heading for the fourth floor. Try to stop them. We'll contact the higher-ups to see how we'll proceed.>
Sure, I get it. Our task is to destroy some core in a suit of armor that is trying to kill us. And to make it worse you want us to do it repeatedly?
"Guy, snap out of it! It's killing your goblins."
Jade's call rips me out of my mental cursing and back to reality. The remaining goblins are assaulting the armor but apart from some scratches, they don't do much damage. Meanwhile the armor, I guess I should call it a golem, swings around at them or grabs them in a stranglehold.
"According to Navi, that thing has a core and we have to break the core to make it stop moving."
"You don't say? I heard that whole thing too, you know? Any idea where that core is?"
"Where the heart is? What do you think?"
"I'd have guessed the head. Let's try and find it quickly."
Jade rushes forward and frees another grabbed goblin by using her tail whip skill on the armor golem's hand. She then proceeds to circle around the armor golem and try to use her tail whip skill on the back of its head.
Her tail impacts heavily and makes the armor golem sway for a moment. Some of the rock that makes up the helmet has been ruptured by the strength of the tail whip and there is a hole at the spot of impact.
The armor golem ignores Jade and keeps grabbing the goblins. She hits it a few more times causing more holes to appear in the helmet.
"I don't think its core is in the head."
"Should I call you detective Guy? Thanks for stating the obvious. How about you do something besides spectating and help me?!!"
"Why are you so irritated all of a sudden?"
"Why indeed? Let's look at our situation. I, a snake that uses blood to fight have to fight an enemy without blood. Also, do you know how much it hurts to hit that rock with my tail? That rock feels more like steel!"
Oh, I just assumed that her tail didn't hurt. I guess that wasn't very thoughtful of me. I too close in on the armor golem and try to stab its chest where the heart should be located.
Unsurprisingly, the dagger slips right off the armor and leaves only a shallow on the rock. I evade the armor golem's attempt to grab me and strike the same place a second time. Again the dagger fails to pierce the rock and slides off to the side. After two more hits, the dagger finally penetrates but the only reaction the armor golem shows is that it uses the time I need to retract the dagger to grab me again. Thankfully it misses me by a few centimeters and I manage to roll back and out of its range.
"I got it! Between its legs."
"Did you get hit on the head Jade? What's between its legs?"
"The core you imbecile! Look how it always keeps one hand close to that area and shifts it away from the goblins!"
But that area is...
"Are you sure it isn't because you know... That area is very vulnerable for men."
"It's a GOLEM. It's doesn't have anything down there, the guy inside that armor is already dead!"
"Still, I can't just hit him there..."
"Then just make sure to distract him long enough to give me an opening. I'll end this piece of junk in one strike."
Since Jade said so I attack the armor golem again and aim for its lower body area. The moment the armor golem detects where I'm aiming it stops fighting the golems and attacks me using both hands.
I'm just a diversion so I pull back and let the armor golem punch the air where I stood. Jade approaches from behind and whips out with her tail at great speed. Unfortunately, the armor golem notices and throws itself to the side making her hit its leg.
The armor golem is now on the ground and before it can stand up again I wrap some role around its legs. The role quickly gets tangled and hinders the armor golem from standing up. Jade uses that time to launch another strike with her tail.
The armor golem twists its hips and again deflects the blow at the cost of part of its waist.
"Safe to say the core is definitely where you thought it would be. But damn this thing is good at defending."
Suddenly the remaining goblins throw themselves on the armor golem and hold him down with their weight. Jade once again brings down her tail and faces no obstruction or evasion this time. The rock is smashed and with the sound of glass shattering a little light burst in the area of impact.
The struggling golem immediately ceased to struggle stops moving completely. I think we successfully killed one of them.
<Congratulations on killing an artificial armor type golem and receiving a small amount of EXP. You did quite well, I thought you'd die at least a couple of times before killing it.>
First of all, rude. Second of all why did I only get a small amount of EXP for that thing?
<That complicated. For now, it's been decided for you to be extracted. Please prepare.>
Why are we being extracted? We managed to kill the armor without dying so we should be fine.
