Emma looked up from the invitation, only to see Lily staring at her stoically without blinking.

Lily wanted to tell Emma what was happening, but that'd mean she'd go against her word. 

It wasn't her Emma needed to hear this from; it was James. 

Inheriting the throne was a big deal. One would need all the support they could get, since there was a reason many kings, including his own father, abdicated.

And Emma was left to believe that it was James' big sister inheriting it when it wasn't. 

She was left in the dark, even if it was her out of all people that needed to know of this matter the most. 

No one was trained to be a queen in a day, and it came with many perks and dangers. 

It was similar to having your life on the line, with people in high places having motives to kill you. 

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Emma asked weirdly. 

Lily was speechless.
