章節 23: Rendition

Jotham was seated in a chair in the dining room that was adjoined to the corridor to the front door's right when the sharp sound of a metallic piece hitting the wooden door caught his attention. The noise was loud enough to reverberate down the corridor to the room he was in, but after he took a few seconds to listen attentively for Histoire's footsteps, it became clear that the sound did not reach her room.

Perhaps it did, he thought to himself as he eyed his opened laptop's screen on the table, and though it had not been proven just yet, she would later be unable to recall the sound because her consciousness had projected a great distance from her body. She was seated on her bed, her eyes fixated on the floor while her mind vigorously travelled to and fro, deep in an endless thought cycle.
